14.9 million people vaccinated by mid February. Chinny reckon, Bozzer.

Uncle TechTip

Can't believe they're suggesting exams won't go ahead again. A year to think up an alternative.

gov.uk/coronavirus does not appear to have been updated. What is happening with support bubbles?

Unaffected I think.

You're right, they've finally updated the website and support bubbles are unaffected:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home

Exercise now limited to once per day again (as always, no time limit) and  "you should not travel outside your local area". What counts as my "local area?"

I don't really understand why going for two socially distanced walks a day would be an issue. Surely safe physical exercise is essential for health?

QuoteHigher Education provision will remain online until mid February for all except future critical worker courses.

Retroactively criminalised for anyone unable to prove that their bubble is 'high-value'.

I'd argue that anti theft laws are a greater source of criminalisation

idunnosomename

i will have to keep away from the end of my penis because that is not in the local area. gutted

Gah, when is it time to pack it all in.

All our work for naught it seems.

If you can't say, you can't say obviously.

It was a maximum of one hour per day in the March lockdown wasn't it? Was dreading that one making a comeback.

And yeah, the "local area" thing is confusing. I went for a walk yesterday (on my own, wore a mask on any footpath type areas) that happened to traverse three London boroughs, but I was only out for a couple of hours - surely that's less risky than a 20-minute charge through a busy high street, though I appreciate not everyone has the option of an alternative.

Yep. Pretty depressing how completely irrelevant early warning analysis has been throughout this.

Particularly, but certainly not only in England - but since they control the main policy levers...

I don't think one hour per day was ever part of the rules, it was just something Gove suggested in a bid to scare people into doing so without having to make it part of the rules.

I had expected a January lockdown back in November time, what should have happened was a lockdown from October onwards (perhaps with some limited lifting on Christmas Day only) lifting when we have all people on the initial list vaccinated. This pissing about with the tiers has not helped at all.

I would assume that we had plenty of evidence to justify all of this a month ago.

(Well, we certainly did. )

We provide all our stuff internally, seemingly into a void. External stuff has produced fruits, local PH, for example.

Johnson's Little Englander "The UK has vaccinated more people than the rest of Europe combined" can fuck off. Perhaps the rest of Europe are giving both doses of the vaccine and that is why they are slower?

I have spent all of Christmas (1 day off) doing fucking stats to back up our delivery so that adults can use the information. Should have done it earlier but I was overworked and had no time to do any thinking.

The stats say:

TOTAL FUCKDOWN.

Will be interesting to see the impact of the variants...but even that hit a bump in the road...literally.

A criminal level of jingoism.

I'm not really one to get too emotional apart from with films or songs or my wife/cats but I feel completely and utterly fucked tonight. It's been so fucking hard being basically right about this all the fucking time (and I don't mean to be a cunt or smart arse there I'm way beyond that shit) and having the constant burden of people being thick or dismissive or impassive or argumentative and time and time and time again, I was fucking right. It's been about ten months having to deal with the complete fucking wasteman government's genocidal bullshit plus the boundless absolute daily cuntery from the fucking dogshit nation krill tier plague spill sneering wraiths I have to share the fucking place with (don't mean my wife). Bring on that fucking visa and let the plane crash into a fucking volcano.

BlodwynPig

 FULL LOCKDOWN ++ needed

Escape trajectory measured in years not months

Secondary and tertiary impacts will be felt for a decade at least - mental health, illicit drug use, economics, climate.

Yet, oblivion evades me.

Why couldn't we have done what the Aussies and New Zealandians did? It really is baffling

Nah, pretty sure it does go into the arm, even he got that one right.

In all seriousness, solidarity and hugs to anyone feeling completely deflated and hopeless right now. You lot/this place has been a rare and dependable voice of reason and wisdom for me throughout the past year on covid-related stuff and you've given me (and many others I'm sure) hope that not everyone is a complete fucking moron about this thing. Hope everyone's OK.

Yup. I've gone from being relatively sanguine about the whole thing to muttering "fucking moron" at non-maskers in the shops and snorting "fuuuuck off" at anyone in my life still wondering aloud whether it's all as bad as it seems.  The missus remarked today that the thought of another six months of major lockdown (which is what it's going to be, let's face it) made her want to cry, I'm seeing the negative effects of the social distancing in my 3-year old, and our 9-month old is already massively missing out on all the socialising her brother got to do at that age. It's heartbreaking. It's enraging. Fucking white dogshit cunt and his best-of-british spunk addled rancid bullshit needs lamp-posted and bar-stooled to a pulp, pronto.

Junket Pumper

What about people with medical exemptions who don't need to wear a mask? Why would you call the fucking morons?
