I'd prob being naive but part of me thinks that the Trump campaigns attempt to paint Biden etc as 'communists' (I mean for fucks sake) pushed things a step too far out of collective reality for non Trump diehards and was a contributory factor to Trumps election loss. They should have attacked him as a boring neoliberal centrist as there is a core truth to that.

Trump thought he could get away with saying any old shite after it seemed to have worked so far but I think there still has to be a core saleable truth (or at least a compelling narrative) to what you're hawking. There was a real essential truth to Trump's  'I'm the maverick mental alternative to the same old that Clinton represents' shtick in 2016 that worked and that just is not present in claiming Biden  is something he so clearly is not. Biden is an absence of anything of interest, they should have worked with that truth rather than pretend he represented an 'extreme'. (and tbh something much more interesting that what he actually is)

Maybe they could have tried their luck with claiming that kind of thing to whatever centrist Democratic candidate would have been allowed to run in 2024 had Trump won but I feel they were too desperate to pull the Overton Window further along and they stretched it too far too soon and broke the elastic of the new reality they were attempting to impose. Fortunately. Anything to that or is that a lot of barmy cack?

I think Trump's biggest failure was that he didn't actually do anything of value for the people that voted for him. When he was elected, the sentiment was that, yes, he was a reprehensible cunt, but he'd move Heaven and Earth to get things done. In reality, he pissed and moaned, but achieved fuck all.

For a depressing number of people, government by trolling is enough. But when you're on the bones on your arse, you need a bit more than a president that spends all day calling people names on Twitter.

Ah yes, my favourite book of Karl Marx.

QuoteIt was fortunate for Biden that there were thousands of troops at the capitol for his swearing in ceremony. If they had not been there it would have been a starkly empty sight. Similar to his campaign appearances, few people showed up.

Weak. I'm not sure even Garrison's heart is in it any more.

Aside from Hunter's crack pipe mask, this is weak stuff. No characters in the background, very few labels and arrows explaining exactly who everyone is and what they're doing, and why would there be a dummies guide to dementia?

3.5/10, and I'm being generous there.

At least Biden has hair this week. No more bald patch?

Pranet

Is there anything more to his drawing of Biden's wife looking at Biden adoringly than Ben noticing it at the inauguration and thinking "that's sweet I'll put that in my next cartoon"?

His wife loves him. What a loser!

that is surprisingly feeble and down to earth. i wanted to see Biden as like an enormous Mars Attacks robot with a giant cock spraying socialism sperm everywhere with Jinping the Pooh piloting from his bald patch, who is also wanking

The detail he added to the woman's tits in the background is worth noting.

Why is Silvio from The Sopranos smoking crack in the background?

He might've actually been there since he's in Springsteen's band and Bruce performed!

But I suspect it's Hunter Biden

I guess. Terribly drawn and moving around his head like a lice infestation in a primary school. But I guess that's a bald patch not a skull cap.

Not everyone can be Steve Bell.

Garrison probably spent the whole day on a picture of Trump arresting Biden and starting his triumphant second term. Then stupid reality set in and he scribbled this one out.

I was wondering about Xi's weird touching of Biden - it's not a hug, it's not forcing him, it's just odd. I wonder if it originally was Trump pulling Biden away, and he had to change it last minute when it didn't happen.

First deliberately funny Ben garrison I've ever seen

idunnosomename

I'm not sure if he's meta enough to have him inappropriately feeling him up like PAEDO BIDEN HAIRSNIFFER BALD

MojoJojo

Hmmm, if you just look at Biden and his posture, he could be a ventriloquist's dummy. Maybe Garrison decided a cartoon of the US president being fisted by the Chinese president was inappropriate.

Kankurette

People didn't turn up in droves because of this pandemic thing.

Is Xi bumming him?

Is it similar to the inappropriate-but-probably-not-quite-sexual touching that Biden's been accused of?

It's possible, of course, that looking for the logic in one of these things is a fool's errand.

astounded to discover upon investigation that 'The Best Of Karl Marx' is a real book, published in 2019:

https://www.amazon.com/Best-Karl-Marx/dp/1630691844

there's also no way Garrison knew this.

Other notes: 'dementia for dummies' is that meant to suggest the senile stuff is all an act?

'The art of influence peddling' ; what's wrong with that anyway? Ok peddling is a light pejorative but it just amounts to saying you seek to have influence over people, surely a fairly core and uncontroversial ideal for a presidential candidate to hold. Also, in reality Biden has influence over very few people, it's just that Trump was incredibly unpopular with a lot of people, and as it turns out this was a larger amount of people than the amount of people who love him. That's the big elephant in the room that hardcore Trumpsters will never even begin to comprehend.
