Need to boost audio levels on a video

As per thread title.
I thought I'd be able to do this on handbrake and a quick google suggested I could. Unfortunately I'm using quite an old version however and the gain option every guide mentions is absent from mine. It seems they only make it 64 bit compatible now and I think I'm using the last 32 bit (1.0.7) version, but I could be wrong.

Any tips?

Cheers

Is there a way to extract the audio (using something like ffmpegx), boost it in a DAW (Audacity, REAPER) then simply replace the old sound?

You may be able to do this entirely in REAPER (I've not tried it myself).

Didn't know about reaper. That looks promising. Ta!

That's very kind of you. My laptop is a bit of a pain in the arse, so I may well take you up on that if all becomes a bit tricky.
Thanks!
