Keeping in mind that these are the rather conservative officially-published stats that aren't supposed to alarm the peasantry.

In the UK, as you probably already know, the ONS publishes more honest statistics than PHE. The National Association of Funeral Directors has more honest statistics still (but they don't seem to be available online).

It's disturbing we're hurtling towards 100k deaths. Wasn't so long ago the thinking was if it ended up around 40k, although a terrible death toll it could be much worse. We're well over double that now.
