What is so bad about moving to the New York suburbs? Or why can't they find an area of Philly where their moving there won't push up rents and house prices for locals?

They might be priced out of Manhattan now they have a baby, but wouldn't the other boroughs of New York be a lot cheaper? I get that Staten Island is quite a trek from the other boroughs, but is there nothing in the Bronx, Queens or Brooklyn?

I've never been to America so I may be talking out my bottom.

Mahdawi regularly crops up on twitter with someone posting her latest article headline directly contradicting one she wrote 6 months ago.

At least with Heritage you get the feeling he’s probably an ok bloke (albeit a bit of a wally) who is as amazed as we are that he’s getting away with a career at the graun.

Article is fucking woeful of course, but it’s Stuart Heritage writing in the guardian so no one can claim to be short changed. You knew what you were getting into.

The jist of the article is that it's wrong to find Willy Wonka sexy because it's Willy Wonka ffs, but a lot of the comments seem to be focused on how it's wrong to find the actor sexy because he looks very young (he's 25). All a bit odd.

Isn't the worst writer in The Guardian the one who wrote this: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/aug/11/devastated-by-my-sons-tattoo ?
sadly they had just enough self awareness to use a fake name

Quote
"His lovely shoulder"
"I think, briefly, of all the things I could buy with £150."
"Angelina Jolie all veins and scrawls."
"As if my son had deliberately turned his back on a light Victoria sponge and stuffed his face with cheap doughnuts."
Please read it if you haven't already, it's gloriously bad. I'm bookmarking it for next time I feel like an uncreative hack who can't come up with an original idea - it'll give me the confidence of an upper-middle class dullard.

I can't believe no-one has mentioned the Guardian saying tits have been cancelled by woke.

This from back in August is quite staggering.

https://www.theguardian.com/food/2021/aug/14/there-is-holiday-hell-and-then-there-is-self-catering

I suppose it does give you some insight into the mentality of people who've never actually experienced genuine hardship. A Guardian columnist's idea of slumming it is when the welcome hamper in your self-catering holiday accommodation isn't sufficiently stocked, and you actually have to drive to the shops!! I know, right!!!

Fitness is a religion yet obesity rates are huge? Presumably overweight stats are even higher.

Hmm...

That's someone who's clearly mentally ill or having some serious psychological problems, but it's relatively well-written. It's just that they're trying to express something utterly nonsensical.

I don't mind Jess Cartner-Morley in general; normally she writes about fashion and clothes in a straightforward way. But this is not her best work. Crop tops have been fashionable for years, we've had acres of angst about whether sports bras are acceptable daywear and think pieces on Love Island's side boob, bottom boob, every angle of boob boob; so it's neither new nor accurate.

Tattoos are so ubiquitous now that surely anyone associating tattoos with a hard man image still thinks it's the 1950s.

Reading the Guardian is sort of like stepping into this bizarre middles class world where there are no actual problems and the worst thing you have to worry about is your son getting a tattoo or the state of west end theatre.

It is just incredible sometimes. Like going into Narnia.

This could have been written by my mum. Still haven’t told her about my tattoos.

I understand she has softened her stance in the last 5 years (?) but it’s a generational thing I think.

I think it's fairly obvious that Webbe must be a bit nuts, but if she had naked pictures of Merritt, then there is a question as to HOW THE FUCK DID THAT HAPPEN.
