Doesn't quite realise that the sleaze angle may have worked before the Tony Blair years but they were just as sleaze-afflicted so rings a bit more hollow now.

No interest in listening to LBC, but from your description, it sounds like a good example of his most significant weakness. He should have had shot of as many of the cunts as possible who are standing in the way of socialism. But he didn't, because they were nominally—not actually, in any shape or form—'on his side'.

He should be throwing the money lenders out of the temple, not washing their fucking feet.

You're probably right, but I'm glad he didn't discard his principles and become some bitter angry man. He's shown dignity and class.

I agree generally, but he holds no power and his sway has probably declined. He 'wins' be acting like this - not that it does anyone any good apart from may swaying a few soft centrists into thinking 'actually, he's not a bad guy, we were wrong'.

Pfft. They want to see him booted around the town square.

I said 'a few' soft centrists.

I think this works so long as you assume Corbyn is not simply playing nice and presenting a smiley face to the listening public. He was always generally like this, see his comments when Cameron left. I agree with you that he wasn't ruthless enough during his time in charge, that is the crucial issue in fact, but I think it's pretty clear that making personal or even political attacks on LBC in 2021 would have come across as bitter, and the best thing he can do now is try to shine as bright as possible even in the knowledge he is slipping from relevance.

pancreas

Right, but he can say he is disappointed that not more of the last Labour manifesto is being talked up, given that polls show people are now in strong support of free broadband, fans' control of football clubs etc. That he hopes the current leadership will find the courage to argue for the pay and conditions of working people. (Leaving people to fill in the rest.)

1. Emma Kennedy endorse Mercer's resignation as brave or something.

Mercer is resigning over the Government refusing to put into law that we'll protect British soldiers from being charged from killing people in Northern Ireland.

2. Emma Kennedy responds to a comment on her endorsement that she doesn't care about Brexit now, or something like that, because she's got an Irish passport anyway.

idunnosomename

I guess she just saw "the government" and though "AHHH! BASTARDS! GOOD TORIES!" and didnt realise the irony of waving her Irish passport about at the same time as defending a man over immunity of British troop war crimes

Zetetic

Specifically crimes in NI. They are being protected from prosecution for crimes beyond the UK.

idunnosomename

yeah. the telegraph's "reporting" on this is stunning. should really be in MANDATORY PATRIOTISM thread

Sebastian Cobb

It goes beyond compulsory patriotism, she's just a liberal idiot who thinks western imperialism is a force for good.

Like those centrists who believe Iraq was done out of a Western sense of moral obligation to protect civilians from Saddam. Rather than something that was retconned in to justify an illegal war.

BlodwynPig

She can go back to dry humping an emaciated Dobbin for all I care

idunnosomename

it's also the comeback to "ha you are bitter about Brexit" is "no I still have an EU passport I won lol"

grown-ups.

sadly I don't have any relatives from this English-speaking island just over the sea that I can use for that wheeze, so fuck me eh.

Well yeah, but it also highlights how her interest in her Irish heritage is constrained to 'can be used to get an EU passport'.

https://jewishnews.timesofisrael.com/starmer-withdraws-from-ramadan-event-after-board-of-deputies-warning/

JVL's summary:

QuoteThe Board of Deputies are so pumped up by knowing they can dictate to
Starmer which Jews he can meet, they have decided to move on to telling him which Muslims he can meet.

Will it be which Christians next week? Hindus the week after.

Am I reading this right, the 'controversial' comments that were made related to boycotting Israeli dates made on annexed land?

That should be a GOTCHA for all right minded people.

Guarantee Kennedy is one of those who say, when they leave the country for one theirssecond homes "enjoy the sunny uplands, you deserve it" to all of those of us who can't afford to go anywhere.

idunnosomename

since we're talking about Kennedy, I noticed she makes a big deal out of being Mastermind champion but I looked at her general round and I'm pretty sure any Cabbers could beat her performance on it because the questions are piss-easy child's trivial pursuit fodder

greenman

What was her specialist round? "Emma Kennedy's breakfast this morning?"

idunnosomename

Lucille Ball of I Love Lucy.

also it was just the one show, not a league or anything. "champion" seems a bit disingenuous

Bryony Page   Disney films   3rd
Nemone   Works of Roald Dahl   2nd
Emma Kennedy   Lucille Ball   Winner
Alan Gardner   Wassily Kandinsky   4th
