If you don't, and frankly, why would you, the short version is that a woman named Phoenix Netts was murdered. At the time the news broke, it was reported by terfs that she'd been killed in a women's shelter and heavily insinuated, as well as outright stated, that her killer was a trans woman.

Naturally, nobody with an axe to grind did any kind of fact checking. Indeed, the absence of any reporting was seen as proof that it must have been a trans woman, and that the "MSM" were blacking it out to protect "the narrative".

The reaction to this Sam Smith tattoo thing in the TERFosphere is like the (bipartisanly!) boneheaded reaction to that French film, "Mignonnes"/"Cuties", last year - which was also an artistic statement about growing up in an disenfranchised situation. I normally avoid the snobby verb "to misunderstand" art, but some people really are just dead to the world of artistic intent.

People like art to tell them what they already know in a pretty way - they don't appreciate being confronted with what is different or difficult to resolve, but nonetheless true - such as children having dreams of being adults. They prefer to see it as an inexplicably permissive surfacing of pornography in the guise of something else.

The tattoo is a statement of how Smith felt about himself ... of COURSE it is. That they could entertain the idea that it was anything else (like, using his body as a billboard to convince young boys to become nonbinary? would he crane his neck having a pedo-wank over his own upper arm?) is a laughable demonstration of their biogtry. In the end, it all comes down to self-righteousness that licenses hatred.

Even the worst Linehan could say about them is that they've unwittingly fallen for an ideological movement that is allegedly a danger to children - nothing you couldn't say about a Tory voter.
