So... a little while ago, I started seeing adverts for a game called BitLife. The idea of the game is that it takes you from birth to death, allowing you to make all of the big decisions along the way. Do you work hard at school? Do you start exercising as a kid? Do you experiment with drugs? What type of career do you want? All basic stuff handled in a completely mundane fashion with no trace of the supernatural. I played the game for a bit and really enjoyed it until the incessant adverts became too much.

Does anyone know of any alternatives to this type of game? I have had a look and I found an educational title that supposedly teaches you what it's like to grow up in a third world country, the only alternatives to this appear to be porn games. Which is fine, I'm cool with porn games, but I wouldn't mind the emphasis being placed elsewhere.

Any ideas?

Not played it - but what about these?

They look like rip-offs or alternatives to the game you mentioned.

Thank you... weirdly it hadn't occurred to me to search for literal alternatives to bitlife.

So someone's actually made the Roy game from Rick and Morty. I suppose it was bound to happen.

St_Eddie

It was already done way back in 1986 with the game Alter Ego.

Farming simulator and flight simulator is where its at for me. Haven't branched into train simulator yet but I'm thinking about it. I love simulator games but I need a specific angle. Life simulator sounds way too vague.

Custard

You surely already know this, but if you turn off the internet on your phone as you're playing, no adverts will load

This has been a life saver for me with a lot of "free" mobile games

Can highly recommend Torn here, it sort of qualifies.

It's taken me a year to really get to grips with it and I'm still developing and progressing all the time. It's a text-based crime RPG, although doesn't really seem text-based to me.

At the start you figure it's just a sort of mindless clicker. Then as you get more info it, you realise there's 16 years of depth to uncover, and almost limitless sandbox possibilities. For instance, scamming and extortion are legal, so you can be a scammer, a reviver, a mugger, a hitman, a merc, a trader etc. And it becomes very addictive, as there is uncapped progress when you train your stats, so everyone is competing to become the strongest and/or richest. It's also designed to be played over a loooong period of time with a deliberate slow pace, so yeah, it becomes part of your life, especially if it hooks you in

I progressed onto my factions newly-formed council some months ago, and my leadership then let me into our alliance'e leadership channels during huge wars we were involved in. This was an extraordinary eye opener, as I started to realise the sort of politics and such that goes on behind the scenes.

So yeah, kind of a life sim in a way. A remarkably brilliant game, I adore it. Top quality writing as well, which is rare.

Lawn Mower Simulator is coming out soon for the Xbox Series X. It looks like it'll really take advantage of the capabilities of Microsoft's new flagship machine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAI-Dr0V5M0

What I find funny about that Xbox Lawnmower simulator is that its clearly actually got quite high production values. The graphics look pretty nice and it looks like its got a pretty decent physics system. It seems like it could be really relaxing in the same way I find both farming simulator and flight simulator. If it comes to PC count me in!

I've got goat simulator for android.
