Obviously there are many contenders for this but I'm going to nominate Guns & Roses.  Axl Rose has basically lived very well off 2 albums them for 30 years with a combination of session musicians or old members of the band joining him along the way.

Starlit

Wanda Dee still touring as The KLF Experience thirty years after about six seconds of samples of here were used across two singles.

Black Francis wanted to make a new album long before it actually happened when the Pixies reunited, Kim Deal wasn't too keen though. She bailed when they finally did it of course. I think BF's Bluefinger was intended to be a Pixies album, it certainly sounds one of the most Pixies-ish of his solo works.

Ian Brown's done pretty well off being involved in one good album released 32 years ago.

His first solo album wasn't that long ago.

cosmic-hearse

Keith Morris is still paying the bills on the back of a 5 minute Black Flag 7" & a 15 minute Circle Jerks LP, both released over 40 years ago.

Bez. No glories to speak of but coasted off the back of everyone else's glory. If not for the Happy Mondays he'd be nicking your Levi's off the line and trying to flog them back to you whilst maintaining he's of the skag.

What did he do in '56?

What DIDNT he do in '56... seriously though, he discovered bumlove.

Like someone said earlier Jeff Wayne has been living off War of The Worlds for 43 years. He did release Spartacus in 1992 but that seems to have vanished into thin air now.

Similarly, Andrew Fletcher in Depeche Mode who seems to do absolutely fuck-all musically.

Bump, was thinking about him as well.

Lee Mavers has done OK off one album.
Well, one song really.

Did nothing but cover versions, but always, always, always made sure he had at least a co-writer's credit on the B-side. FOURTEEN top ten hits in the eighties, including a Christmas single that went platinum.

That's why he's the King of Rock & Roll!

I'm sure I read, and it was probably a justification to why he is still in the band because, he does fuck all musically. But if it wasn't for fletch, Depeche mode would have been a spent force probably even before violator and gahans drug taking.

He sort of holds them together, an unofficial manager of sorts

He's had his Djing and his Political stuff, and his podcasting.

But he wouldn't AV that unless he was shaking his maracas and acting the resident dancing monkey.

This one should win the thread. Got four kids, as well. Them royalties from " There She Goes" must pay really well for ol'  Adam Woodyatt features.
