How can anyone tell themselves that this is OK?

A man tells a police officer he's "autistic" three times & that he's classed as "disabled & vulnerable", but is still battered by the officer's police riot shied. The footage was taken at the Kill The Bill protest in Bristol on Friday evening #killthebill #BristolProtest #Bristol

Ah good old British Alba in the replies

Also check out Aaron Bastani's twitter at the mo.  I linked it in the Police Brutality thread but it belongs here.  Fucking hell, you just have to scroll down to see each attack more horrific and despicable than the last.  Completely intolerable.

I saw the bruising on that one woman which was quite intense.

It's quite scary the number of people in the replies who don't think disabled people should be protesting.

Kankurette

Yes, how dare disabled people have political beliefs. I mean, I don't go to protests in no small part because of my chronic pain, but other disabled people do and they have as much right to be there as anyone else.

I can only imagine how terrifying kettling must be for autistic people.

Butchers Blind

Not really been following this too closely, why has Bristol become a flashpoint for the protest?

The police are there (allegedly) for all of us.  Not just those that are deemed to be standard ones.

These kind of sorry snowflake responses beg some of us to get out there with energetic violence.  That's the problem, you start dishing it out, you turn a blind eye, excuse it, what's to stop people using it on you?  Because they should play by the rules that you ignore?  People need to think this stuff through.  Even if they don't give a fuck about anybody else, self interest dictates, a calm lawful respectful world is safest for everyone.

JaDanketies

Really they should identify and charge 100% of these violent police officers with assault, and throw the book at them as they are supposed to be in a position of authority.

I saw someone on twitter saying something along the lines of protests happening everywhere but the police approaching this one in particular like a pitched battle.  Maybe something to do with the statue last year?

Fambo Number Mive

Most of the media seem to be ignoring the violence from police. The attack on the Mirror journalist gets one line in the BBC story in a story about Johnson condemning "violence at a third night of protests".

#FBPE finally going full-fash...

Fambo Number Mive

So that #FBPE tweeter thinks its ok for police to hit people on the floor with riot shields because anarchists were present?

#FBPE people would be fine with Johnson's Britain if we hadn't left the EU.

chveik

are these people genuinely scared of anarchists? are they stuck in the 19th century?

Buelligan

In fairness we don't have any over here on the mainland.

jobotic

Scared of losing any of their wealth and it's the police's job to defend it.

Have you seen the state of anarchists these days. Melts.

Well, we knew that when they used brexit to undermine Corbs.

pigamus

Why is there only unrest in Bristol? Why is no one else protesting?

It's that kind of town, I guess. Brighton also had a small demo, I believe, but we're all pretty soppy here.

EOLAN

BBC Radio Five Live leading with Johnson statement about a bunch of thugs doing disgusting violent acts followed up with a couple of lines from police saying they used appropriate levels of action. No word from anyone with a slightly different opinion. The type of news reportage that will be seeping into the homes of the vast majority.

Get up there Johnny, speak up for the bald, soppy or no.

Presumably he'll be getting a bollocking for making political tweets?

BlodwynPig

The year is 2026, some beige voters nod less vigorously at a digital advert on Oxford Street, hailing the success of the Government in eradicating 'extreme art' from Britain. These bald, shabby few are quickly carted off by the private security force once known as the Police.

Buelligan

I'm surprised he has the courage to speak out like that against the police.  Well done, old fellow who does diy for coins.
