RVK Newscast #101: Volcano For Sale & A New Name For The Lava Field: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsBY9vIMxqs

Art really living up to his name in this one. Valur enjoying himself and totally forgetting to mention that they're thinking of trying to divert the lava away from the road. The 3D model in this video is useful for getting to grips with where the lava is flowing:

Shit the bed! Look at this drone footage:

Léon Frey is not being immodest when he says 'best'. That video is compiled from his other videos, which are also amazing:

Geldingadalur Volcano – Epic Drone Footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auWGDm0WXP4

Iceland Volcano at Night – Drone Footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcTvyc73-cQ

Joey Helms is not such a good drone operator:

EPIC DRONE CRASH into ICELAND VOLCANO ERUPTION | DJI FPV 4K:

This is how you get me to click through.

Must be an air temp of a couple hundred degrees there, insufficient air density for the uav to maintain lift. Unless the other vids are just as low over the red stuff, in that case it is a shit pilot.

Over 3 months, now. The gift that keeps giving.

Did you see the idiot that walked up on the lava bed (which was dangerous enough) and then got chased back by a huge and fast lava flow?:

What the actual fuck? Aside from the fact that he (and it probably is a he, isn't it?) could have at any step fallen through the crust, he took his time to get moving once the molten lava arrived.

And Valur mentioned in one of the RVK Newscasts that in places on the lava there are fine hairs of glass that could give you a nasty cut.

Have they still not found a way to block this up yet? The cleanup costs are going to be enormous.

They're trying! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jJHC-e9jsk

What a great idea to cluster together; more chance to break through to the molten lava below. This year's Darwin awards are a shoe-in.

It's not like the best view isn't from drone footage anyway. This, for instance, is gorgeous: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7vzMmTtUyE

That's great but I still think it's no substitute for being there. I'd love to go and see it. I just wouldn't be standing on any lava fields.

Bit annoyed by this as I visited Iceland two weeks ago and the volcano had become inactive and boring.

I did see Bjork though. I'm not joking. I didn't get a photo but in this image I am indicating the approximate position at which I walked past Bjork.

After a a few dormant days the volcano has four new vents:

How does the guy who filmed that manage to blather through so much spiel and not actually mention the name of the volcano? Even I can copy and paste Fagradalsfjall Geldingadalir

Wonderful. I've got so far behind on my RVK Newcasts that I had no idea it had all kicked off again.

Perhaps it's because he's completely drowned out by all the bombastic music.

Johnny Yesno

This guy reckons those are not new vents, just holes in the crust of the huge new lava pool:

LAVA TUBES BLOCKAGES CAUSE LAVA FONTAINS / HORNITOS! Undercrust lava flows spilling south! 🔥 12.09: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q0PcJCM340

It might be wise for enthusiasts to stay away from the area. The Wiki page gives fascinating information about the eruption at Laki in 1783. Killed a fair few people with both long and short term effects. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laki

On the plus side it did reduce global tempeatures effectively.

A look at the volcano now, after over a year.

The clouds coming off of the surface of the lava is now just water vapour. The lava is still giving off a lot of heat, but is no longer molten. Valur decides to take a walk over it:

And Valur is back...

This is a much bigger eruption compared to those in 20/21.
