Early access is here, and it's absolutely free (you just need an Epic Games account)

trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tjkSpoa7V8&ab_channel=IGN

The quality is incredible, particularly the hair which looks and behaves like real hair.

Quick screenshot of one of the 50+ pre-set characters which can then be modified however you like. You can them import them to Unreal Engine (also free) and if you have an iPhone X or later, do live facial animation on them.

Exciting times for video game AI characters, VR avatars, and even background characters in live action films/shows if you have the right lighting/put them slightly out of focus.

Why bother when the pinnacle was reached years ago?

Ha. You can actually adjust the settings on this for lower quality, the results are similarly bizarre

This is exciting. Submitted my application form, hope to get accepted soon so I can make some really fucked-up looking disasters.

Speaking of Oblivion, this could be used in a similar way as Oblivion's FaceGen, right? Like, you could populate a game world with an infinite number of different looking randomly generated characters, only now they'd all look realistic and impressive rather than like mutated potatoes.

Oh not a DC Universe Online thread...

Cannot wait for the Monster Factory of this.

Probably not with current tech. Someone posted a video yesterday where they put 10 metahumans in a scene and it pretty much brought his rtx 3090 system to a standstill. It's mostly because of the hair (although that can be disabled/removed), each "groom" has thousands of strands and it's incredibly resource hungry.

Some really stunning little clips people are already coming out with though

Can one perhaps make these people strip off until entirely nude?

This is as naked as you can get with Metahuman

Character Creator/iClone (which can be combined with Metahuman in Unreal Engine) allows full naked though (although the pubic area is blank, and non-existent for the male ones)

It's amazing how real they look when you get these characters in the right lighting and live face controlled. The way the hair moves exactly like real hair in particular is jaw-dropping

And the women, apparently.

(Mostly edit glitch fuck.)
