This unlocked post from JMS's Patreon in November of last year explains that the legendary The Last Dangerous Visions should be hitting the market round about NOW. "March/April 2021". https://www.patreon.com/posts/43848905

This is exciting stuff for Ellison fans and should be big news for lovers of literary SF generally.

There has been, of course, no public news lately of this actually happening. I trust JMS though and I expect Ellison sagely chose him as estate executor. He strikes me as a person of great integrity who understands the industry and Gets Shit Done.

There seem to be some more recent updates (Mar 31st, April 8th and April 15th) concerning the book's progress at JMS's Patreon. But it's over £15 to get into it. Does anyone here have access already or want to sign up? I can't afford it. Not asking for anyone to smuggle content out; just a gist of "there have been insurmountable legal difficulties" or "it's coming out next week."

Another nice news nugget from that unlocked post is that Ellison Wonderland (Harlan and Susan's zany home) is going to be a nonprofit memorial library and site of cultural significance. Lovely stuff.

JMS's autobiography is a terrific read. Horrific childhood, his father was awful - and there's a twist as you discover quite how awful he was. He has his first"proper" novel out soon, I think I'll give it a go.

I like the way JMS teases in that patreon post that there was a top secret super mysterious reason why the book was never completed.

Personally, I always found this explanation as to why it never happened to be pretty convincing: https://web.archive.org/web/20020128044644/http://sf.www.lysator.liu.se/sf_archive/sf-texts/Ansible/Last_Deadloss_Visions,Chris_Priest
