I know some of the Gove material from this C4 series have been around on YT for a while, but I hadn't seen any full episodes of this since it was originally on.  It's much worse than I remembered, and I didn't exactly have fond memories of it:

"a wry look" indeed...
edit: not sure why the catalogue entry describes the show in the first link as "episode 2" and also as an "unbroadcast pilot", but the whole thing is just too wry for me to dwell on any further.

Famous Mortimer

The idea of watching Gove and Baddiel on anything, any more, seems like a hideous nightmare of some kind. But I did it.

The whole series is available on All4 now - https://www.channel4.com/programmes/a-stab-in-the-dark
Ah, cheers - I just found these two when I was looking around on that site, didn't know it was on there. How wry of them.

I specifically remember A Stab In The Dark being terrible however it was much, much worse than that.

BlodwynPig

I remember A stab in the dark being pretty bad, however it is certainly much worse than that!

That show had a nine year old tell one of the greatest joke ever.
I won't spoil it, but the punchline was, "Because the second man told the first man that his whole generation was a piss flap."

It's really odd to me that this show has such a bad rep.
Is it only because Gove is on it?

I re-watch it from time to time, and I think it's a decent bit of late night satire.
I don't like Gove as a politician, but he gives politicians a very hard time as an interviewer: basically accuses P.Bottomley and the whole Major gvt of being hypocrites over the IRA; asks very pointed questions of Kate Hoey over MP's pay; gets Alan Clark to admit that his government supports the Suharto regime.
That's pretty tough political interviewing isn't it?
