He was horseplops in Rick & Morty. Flat and stilted cameo as "Elon Tusk", not helped by the show being awkwardly reverential towards him.

He also appeared in The Simpsons in an episode I haven't seen but I'm sure is awful.

I watched the video where he presented the three pigs with chips in their brains and was surprised at how bad he was at public speaking. Lots of umming and aahhhing:

He also has no charisma whatsoever. And his behaviour might be erratic at times but not in a "loveable eccentric" kind of way. And he's a pretty weird-looking man. He seems like such an unlikely person to have gained a cult following. Not exactly Steve Jobs is he? I was never an Apple fan (owned a few iPhones, that's it) but with him I get it:

I can't wait for all the Elon Musk weirdos who drive around in their exploding cars waiting to be shot to Mars to have to pretend this is hilarious.

GoblinAhFuckScary

can't fuckin wait for musk to go to mars

Well, they got me to watch this live for the first time in years. It's very bad but so far Elon Musk is actually fine.

Although the one piece of SNL that has made me properly laugh was when Kate McKinnon sang that Leonard Cohen Alleluia song at the top of the show after Trump won the presidential election.

Yeah, that wasn't intended to be funny though was it? Tragique

I wonder what it was that first attracted Grimes to the multi-billionaire Elon Musk?

She, like, wants to go back to her people, https://youtu.be/UJNOJZrwHMw?t=52

Yes, he actually wasn't bad, he clearly rehearsed this a lot and had a lot of coaching, fair do's:

Bit of a dick move to make light of him saying stupid things on Twitter after calling someone "paedo guy" though.

Also check that top comment and the replies- complete strangers are proud of him for pulling this off? That's a bit weird.

evilcommiedictator

His fans are truly great, "two geniuses in one artwork"

SNL is generally shite though isn't it? To be fair to the cunt.

idunnosomename

Oh im not particularly blaming him. Just surprising HOW bad. And I usually think stereotypical italian accents are one of those always funny things.

He isnt doing the Wario voice at all though. Waaahhh!

D'Angelo Wallace has done a summary of the Elon Musk SNL episode which I like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q7Vs2Ml2dg

Glad I didn't bother watching any of the SNL sketches from his hosting.

I get the impression SNL is a bit like Spitting Image in that it owes its reputation to a few classic sketches that have been widely seen, but if you were to actually sit down and watch several episodes you'd realise the gold is buried within a lot of dross.

I remember when someone posted the Bake-Off sketch here and quite a few of us were like: "Hang on, I thought SNL was supposed to be good?":

To be honest even when people share the "brilliant" sketches, they're usually not that great?

I find SNL truly abysmal, but love the lore and backstage stories and how so many influential comedians passed through there.

This is like some school assembly shit. Fucking embarrassing

I watched like fourteen seconds of that then began shouting loudly out of sheer embarrassment reflex and had to close the tab.

Also PRINCESS PEACH ISN'T FUCKING ITALIAN.

PlanktonSideburns

About time someone satirised the Mario brothers

PlanktonSideburns

Do you reckon this was what it was like round Henry 8th's gaff on the weekends?

There's usually a solid hour out of each season, which given it's 25 lots of 90 minutes, is not a great hit-rate.

Mobius

Yeah I guess it's pretty subjective. A lot of it probably depends on whether you like the thing they're referencing.

For example I really like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATXbJjuZqbc which if you don't like the Serial podcast, is probably shit

Poirots BigGarlickyCorpse

If I wanted to watch a bunch of liberals gobbling a rich man's asshole, etc.

lankyguy95

The only recentish SNL sketch I've seen that I actually liked was the Dead Poets Society one.

yeah I did clock that. i mean part of the joke is she's just a damsel in distress courted by two italian plumbers. it's not funny if she's italian too.

H-O-W-L

Honestly I think it's funnier when you consider nobody else in the Mario world is Italian except Waluigi and Wario.

sevendaughters

I have never laughed at an SNL bit except Fear playing Beef Baloney introduced by a half cut Donald Pleasence. The roll call of greats is undeniable but something about the format is pure comedy death for me, and it doesn't help that they're utterly obsequious to power. File alongside late night as American Things I Don't Get But Like Reading About.

I made a playlist of my favourite sketches a few years ago, which may just be the nonsense I like but may give you a few laughs:

I consider 'Meet Your Second Wife' to be a brilliantly written and executed sketch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJEAGd1bQuc
