Your dad is asking if "the video you rented from the video shop is suitable for family viewing?"

I told him we are watching the film on Netflix and that it is rated 12. He went off in a huff and started noisily tinkering with the radiator in the hall. Passive aggressive behaviour!

Get him to ask the question again, because the wording is really odd and it comes across more like a statement with a question mark at the end.
