Hasn't Gangrenous George missed a trick then by not standing as the Free Palestine Party?

buttgammon

Just reading up on Galloway and didn't realise he'd hitched on yet another new bandwagon.

QuoteIn May 2021 Galloway described the party as "the working-class patriotic alternative to fake woke anti-British 'Labour.'"

Socialism for elderly racists doesn't sounds like any socialism I know.

That appears to be (one of) his stance(s):

Won't they vote for Galloway in preference to that? Surely that's why he entered the contest.

The leaflet campaign seems to be targeting Double G.

When a ludicrous Big Brother contestant in an oversized trilby becomes a genuine concern, something is seriously wrong. Unrelatedly, kieth is running 40 points behind the labour party among British Muslim voters (who make up ~20% of the B&S constituency), presumably this is also corbyn's fault? Unclear.

What date is the by-election? Must say I thought it was going to be a (much diminished) labour victory. Now I'm not so sure.

(Reason for my change in preddo (in addition to the polling) - mandelson's retreat from the spotlight. If he still thought they had half a chance, he'd be out front and centre taking as much credit as possible. It seems like he's pissed off which means there's probably not much hope for the sinking ship.)

July 1st. Princess Di and Debbie Harry's birthday. As well as my cousin Stuart. Well one of my cousins Stuart. I have two.

Ferris

Oh you mean Canada Day!

(It's just getting pissed in the sun and being nice to everyone plus nobody goes to work.)

And the day that transitional Brexit arrangements end and we start actually applying the rules in the Brexit agreement.

You thought that had already happened? It has not.

Love how stiff Starmer appears in all those candidate photos. A malnutritioned Mr. Blobby turned creepy stalker

QuoteHome Essentials provides an average of 36 Mbps download speeds and 700 minutes of calls for £15 a month

Virgin have 108Mbps for £28. This is exploitation dressed up as social service. It's a fucking voucher.

It's obvious we run the world wrong.  What makes people happy and well and enables them to live fulfilled lives is only available to those incentivised to steal the share of others.

This hangs above my desk, I stole it -

Our society should work to provide everyone with the goods they need to live good lives as a right from birth.  It's obvious.

Once you get to the 30Mbps speed the gains beyond it aren't that significant for the vast majority of people's day-to-day use tbh beyond the occasional live stream issues if everyone is using it at once, it's the length of the contract that's the issue beyond that (and Virgin's contracts are the worst I've seen).

I don't see anything in that article about contract length but if it's not contract free, it's a pile of wank.

QuoteA councillor in Wolverhampton has defected to the Conservatives one month after being re-elected as a Labour candidate.

Councillor Gurmukh "Mak" Singh, who has represented the Spring Vale ward for five years, said he joined the Labour Party due to it representing "the ordinary person".

But now he said the "values and beliefs" which led him to join had "faded away" from the party as he criticised the leadership of Keir Starmer.
...
"I joined the Labour Party thinking that I would be part of a political party that was there for the ordinary person on the street. Over the years, I have felt that the values and beliefs which aligned with mine have faded away from the Labour Party.

"I have felt this especially in the last year, where Keir Starmer has spent his time finding faults in the response to Covid-19. We are all in this together, and the Prime Minister Boris Johnson has put the people of this nation first. For me, it is all about adding value to our city and I believe that only the Conservatives can do this."

Seems like he's just using that as an excuse, but still, another win for the strong and visionary leadership of Sir Keith, the man inspires.

Fambo Number Mive

So he joined Labour due to it  representing "the ordinary person", (rightly) doesn't think it does so under Keith, but defects to the...Tories?

Why didn't he stand as a Tory candidate a month ago during the local elections? Was he happy with Keith's Labour in early May 2021 but in the past few weeks has grown unhappy enough to join the Tories?

And he doesn't have to face another election, even though he has changed party. The paper should ask the local Tories if they think it's right they accept someone who stood for election a month ago for another party.

Quote"I realise that my announcement will come as a surprise to many. In these unprecedented times, it is not able being on the left, right, or centre; it is about getting outcomes for local people

Sounds like something Keith would say.

Just wanted to make sure he got elected with a bit of help and support from the Labour CLP first.

In a party of cunts that's a fucking cunt move, but now he is with the cunts he evidently belongs to like the cunt he is.

Yeah, I'm as out of love with Keith as it's possible to be, nevertheless, the people that elected that cunt deserve better, even though they elected an obvious cunt.  The people who selected him to stand, however, no words.

These things do happen though, Gloria Del Piero's agent (I think) did the same thing.  Mind you, I'd join the tories to get away from her.

What did the Daily Mail think of Davidson's comments? Or is it all right when it's someone like him?

i'm guessing the daily mail is a bit disingenuous there.

Oh of course. But it's quite funny to see given how often his silence and lack of character is hailed as some sort of canny avoidance of 'elephant traps' only for him to come out with something that was obviously going to provoke this sort of reaction.

Buelligan

Could I just register here how much I've always appreciated the name Colin Pitchfork?  Fair play, a thing of beauty.

Rupert Murdoch should buy it off him.
