The Youtube comments are full of people making it sound like Kay was doing a Howard Beale. They also seem to hate the One Show presenters for no reason whatsoever.

Any more annoying examples of comedians plugging than Peter Kay on the One Show?

On the other hand, I've probably mentioned on here before being in the audience for a comedy show when questions were being taken, and one of the questioners used her question to advertise (I think) the local Debenhams sale. Imagine being that pushed to get people through the doors that you felt pressured to do some "viral marketing" at a comedy show you'd paid to go and see. That's an example of someone using a comedy show for some plugging. Examples of that would also be interesting.

There are absolutely plenty of reasons, especially when one of them is Chris Evans.

I actually quite like it when comedians go on these shows, disrupting the format and commenting on the banality of the whole thing. They're forced to do these things by their management, so they're making the best of it. Still, Peter Kay is a bit of a pranny.
