Gruff Rhys encapsulates this for me. He's no octave spanning technical power house of a singer, but I could listen to him sing the phone book in his mellifluous style, his voice just relaxes the brain. Lovely tunes help mind

Karen Carpenter - I've never heard a voice hit low notes so effortlessly and still sound beautiful.

Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, Carl Wilson.

Billie Eilish, Billie Marten, Tessa Violet, Nena, Julia Stone and her brother Angus, Peter Paul and Mary

DJ Bob Hoskins

Joni Mitchell. It's like honey being drizzled into my ears*

*not literally, that would be hideous

Gotta be Mark Hollis for me, especially later Talk Talk and his solo album. Often a very subtle performer, barely understandable at times, but just one of the most comforting voices I've ever heard.
Inside Looking Out might be my favourite performance of his.

Hope Sandoval has the most bestest voice ever.

chveik

Edda Dell'Orso, Hako Yamasaki, Nara Leao, Dionne Warwick

Sebastian Cobb

Emmylou Harris
Rachael Goswell
Bobbie Gentry

Emmylou Harris has a voice that could make a grown man cry. She sounds so beautifully sad. And agreed about Gruff Rhys. Early Catatonia as well before Cerys fucked up her voice, it has a rather ethereal quality to it. Especially on the 93-94 EPs.

By around Court and Spark, yeah - she could be quite shrill up to that point.

Harriet Wheeler from The Sundays. A voice I can never tire of.

On a similar tack, I've got into the new album from Subsonic Eye and their singer has a lovely voice and a really nice way of gliding from one note to another. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvSD0HZ21pY

Bobby Wratten i've always found soothing, there's little bits of Field Mice songs i'd play over and over again because I enjoyed his intonation.

The Crumb

Mimi parker from Low, so sombre yet comforting

Iris Dement has such an expressive voice, here with Emmylou Harris for double voice pleasantness.

Not singing, but I could listen to PJ Harvey talking for hours, her soft Dorset accent is a delight.

Cuellar

Well I like Rufus Wainwright

I like John Grant

I like Christian Gerhaher

I like Arooj Aftab

I've developed a fondness for Mark Lanegan as well. The leathery old growler could make a phone book sound sexy.

Brundle-Fly

Harry Nillson
Kevin Ayers
Nat King Cole
Ella Fitzgerald
Dusty Springfield
Emitt Rhodes
David McAlmont
Bernard Cribbins

All Surrogate

Edward Droste of Grizzly Bear.

Peggy Lee.

Thom Yorke of Radiohead.

This. Amazing voice.

Yeah, Karen Carpenter had a voice like an incredibly rich chocolate sponge cake.
