She used my BOSS SE-50 half-rack on one of her earlier albums!

Edit: I worked out how to use one of the delays as a 2-second sampler, so it got passed around the scene a bit. But I did meet her, and she said thanks. Rubbing shoulders with the great!

That's not weird or funny though - it's basically encapsulating what his 'Girls On Top' era was about - female soul vocals over cold electronic music (the same as he did on We Don't Give A Damn About Our Friends and Being Scrubbed). Once he went legal after the success of the Sugababes rerecording of WDGADAOF, he continued down that vein wth Being Nobody with Liberty X (vocals from Ain't Nobody by Chaka Khan over Human League's Being Boiled)  Finest Dreams with Kelis (vocals from SOS Band's The Finest over Human League's The Things That Dreams Are Made of) and You Used To with Javine (vocals from You Used To Hold Me So Tight by Thelma Houston over an original electronic backing track).

In the same era as Richard was putting out the Girls On Top stuff, another GYBO forum member was making the occasional ironic bastard pop tracks commenting on the lack of imagination of a lot of tracks being produced at the time (the most trad.arr. form of bootleg was the 'A+B' where the instrumental from one track had the acapella from another laid over it almost verbatim) and about the gradual co-opting of the scene by the mainstream. The name chosen to put these tracks out under was the Freelance Hairdresser, a reference to the producer that made the Strokes vs Christina Aguilera bootleg that was one of the first to cross over (it got a regular place on the playlists of many of the satellite TV music stations at the time).

The first of these tracks was Marshall's Been Snookered, mixing Eminem with the Pot Black theme. This rather backfired, as it somehow came to the attention of Chris Moyles who started playing it and taking the credit for it (much to the original producer's annoyance) and spawned a legion of imitations using the same Eminem vocal. He decided to comment on this situation with Marshall's Been Done To Death, the same idea but using a plethora of TV show themes, which then got even more airplay, much to his chagrin. He followed this up with Bring The Bean Bag, featuring the vocals from Bring The Noise (another overused acapella at the time) over the theme from It's A Knockout (Herb Alpert's Bean Bag) and then all went quiet as he was still pursuing a career as a remixer and producer under his main alias.

About a year later, the acapella from Dizzee Rascal's Fix Up, Look Sharp was the acapella that was being massively overused, so he decided to dust off his alias to put out Knees Up, Look Sharp, using the vocal over Chas & Dave's Rabbit. About a year after that following the conclusion of the Michael Jackson trial, he used the alias to put out Good Morning, Judge Melville, a mix based on 10cc's Good Morning, Judge that incorporated manipulated Jackson vocals and some samples of the court proceedings (not available on YT, unfortuinately). The last track he put out using that name was a remix of Machadaynu from series 2 of Look Around You (which might be familiar to anybody who was on NotBBC around that time, as he was also a member there).
