When I went to the Miraikan museum on Odaiba, Tokyo I saw their exhibit of some live zebrafish who were direct descendents of the first animal conceived in space.

I don't doubt that's what they told you.

Sorry, found the pic and it turns out they were rice fish:

Spunky space fish. Possibly fake spunky spacefish. Whatever, something to tell the grandkids innit

Yes, very nice... It's a long way to go to look at a space-fish, but worth it, as you say, for the grandkids.

Is this what our interplanetary overlords will be eating in their orbital pleasure palaces? Inch-long fish fed on shit and sunlight? Maybe that's why everyone in Amazon factories is shitting in bottles.

Do fish care if there is gravity or not?

Interestingly, I read that men can't pee into the Amazon in case the Amazonian knob-fish swims up their urine stream and into their willy. You wouldn't want to take that bastard into space (Or maybe you would: stick some in Beardie's urine-bag. Breaks the monotony)

Hehehehe, I was thinking more of the fish going all the way into space so they could tell their grandkids "We conceived your dad in space".

"We know Granny, you've told us a million times: how you were the first vertebrate to  make babies in space, and how you brought mummy back to Earth attached to your anal fin, and how Grandad died of exhaustion after shaggin'' you, and was eaten by the humans; and one day, if we're very lucky we might go into space. We know"

You jest, but there is video evidence on Wikipedia. NSFW obviously:

I bet Branson takes something a bit more substantial than the rice-fish if he decides to take bony fish into orbit..... Probably he'd go for the sturgeon, because, as we all know, the Virgin sturgeon needs no urgin'

I'm in favour of these billionaire psychopaths embarking on pointless vanity projects, as long as they're extremely dangerous.

That reminds me: When the fuck is Michael Flatley's Blackbird coming out? It must have wrapped at least three years ago now and it's still not in cinemas. A person more cynical than me might assume it turned out to be embarrassingly bad...

Are you saying a film co-starring the third most prolific screen actor of all time  could be bad?

I met Richard Branson at a charity do once. He was surprisingly hurtling down to earth at 20,000 miles per hour, and very funny.

The crew look like the winning team on The Apprentice about to head off for their "treat" of an afternoon of go-karting:

Actually the pilot sounds like a nice chap, I don't want him to go splat:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-57786412

Quote
Mr Mackay, a graduate of the University of Glasgow, said the view was "burned" into his memory.

"It affected me more than I anticipated - the incredible blackness of space," he said.

"If you think about it, when you're on Earth and are looking horizontally you're looking through a lot of moisture and dust particles and even on a clear day you're still looking through miles and miles of pollution.

"But when you're up in space you're looking directly down... the colours on the ground look incredibly vivid and in contrast to this incredibly dark sky.

"And then on top of all that you see so much of the curvature of the Earth and you get a sense of scale of the planet and you realise it's not very big."

AKA The Overview Effect again. Nope, I still reckon Branson and Bezos will be immune. They'll just look at our beautiful, fragile and insignificant planet and think "Hmmm, I really should own a bit more of that".

AKA The Overview Effect:

Perhaps the closest thing we have to the Total Perspective Vortex. Beardy's gonna come out of it like Zaphod Beeblebrox though isn't he?

Or does this speak to the single minded nature of the astronaut: has such a paucity of imagination he has to go look at the earth to understand it. Pretty sure most people can imagine being in space, so don't need to go
