I'm surprised there isn't a Sgt Pepper grave in the foreground and a zebra crossing running from left to right.  It comes from a generation that fixated on "clues" in 1960s LP covers that weren't there, and it repeats them in such a dunderheaded and self-conscious manner that you're given no room for your own wonderings, interpretation or enjoyment.  Plus there's an added layer of obnoxiousness in the whole "too cool for school" vibe of its wanker band members.

Sorry:  beeeeeyaaaaayuuuunnnd members, I meant.  a-twang a-twang-twang

It's the album cover equivalent of the question mark collars in 1980s Doctor Who.  CHECK OUT THE MYSTERY

Sorry rfm I didn't see your post, which says far more eloquently than I did why this cover is pure Zika virus.

Elderly Sumo Prophecy

I like that they didn't know what to do with Bonehead, so they just gave him a guitar and told him to stand at the back.

Oh no esp, that's a KEY he's carrying. Makes you think doesn't it?

Elderly Sumo Prophecy

Is it? Profound. Should have put him in the driver's seat of the Rolls. At least that would have been funny.

Why would anybody endure a photo shoot?  Were you involved in creating it somehow?

I was 14 and was a mega fan of Oasis and someone said they were over near the old Bulldog Tools factory doing a shoot so we jumped on our ten speeds and honked it over there. Saw Liam hanging near the Crispin Arms looking tetchy.

Definitely Maybe cover is really, really good. ASIDE FROM THE FUCKING FONT AND LOGO its maddening to look at, a "graphic design is my passion" meme

The overall gag of it being an aspirational dreaming about making it big image but all the 'clues' to point them already being assured of success works well without being bollocks like a giant fucking key. All their other covers are hilariously shit. It's bizarre they went from Be Here Now to the cheap shitness of the next two. Heathen Chemistry is fucking repulsive, looks like every shit band sticker plastered over a bar or practice space in 2002.

Video Game Fan 2000

look at this shit, looks like a billboard from a 90s FPS. Being obsessed with rock mythology is your gimmick lads put some fucking effort in.

No, it used to be black and white and then in 2000 or so they got the Reebok one.

Johnny Textface

The Reebok one is terrible. But the band name is just as bad so doesn't matter.

purlieu

I love the way that logo was around in 2000 as a big change, then by Heathen Chemistry they'd put it in the black and white box so it looked like the '90s logo, then by Don't Believe the Truth they'd just gone back to a version of the original one and that 2000-2002 logo has never reappeared since.

Spiteface

Isn't the "classic" logo from the first three albums itself supposed to be a homage to the Decca logo?

Should have gone with the one suggested by their Swindon fans:

when they needed saving; you remember

Ron what was that you said to me?

one of the few Oasis things I think I can handle is the DVD commentary clip for this topics video where the blokes driving through the window on his bike and Noel offers up that he's doing it so he can get to the band and tell them "STOP! THIS IS SHIT!"

Be Here Now as the title of a bloated coke LP still makes me laugh all this time later.  So direct, so urgent, so 2 years too late.

Yeah and the cover with its clues

Did their logo always look like some kind of reebok?

This video has just 'dropped' and it may* answer your question, that you probably don't care to know the answer to.

Because maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves Oasis Swindon.

And after all, it's written on their (wonder) wall.

Weirdly, this popped up in my youtube recommendations today:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5gBUJEGHMw

So there you are.  Logos there, and I'm sure you'll agree the information is more enjoyable than Oasis' music.

Ah sorry I was so keen to highlight this coincidence that I didn't first check this thread for other posts.

Listening to a bit of BHN today. It doesn't even sound like its reputation suggestions. My Big Mouth is astonishing/hilarious but after a few minutes of that they don't actually do the BIBLICAL caveman-loveless stuff much even when it would be appropriate. If it sounded like My Big Mouth all the way through at least you could say, yeah genuinely nothing like that had ever been recorded before even if the songs are all shit and Liam sounds knackered. Its confounding, the title track with that crappy toy piano loop would have been screaming for the coke hurricane treatment not a brickwalled Clapton jam. Everything sounds like the corny part of Love Spreads.

Its shit!

I saw yesterday that Noel's high flying birds have a new best of out. I thought they only did 2 albums!

Elderly Sumo Prophecy

Be Here Now, at least on the longer songs, seems to be Noel's attempt at being Macca, as opposed to being Lennon. All Around The World, for example. Just listen to it, it's ridiculous. That was his Hey Jude, and he honestly thought that it would become some sort of singalong anthem. He tries to do something similar with Stand By Me, but that's shit too. His backing vocals are just annoying.
