I've got a feeling it's the opposite...he can play too well - he's probably a jazz virtuoso - and he's struggling to limit himself to their simplicity. Like when Black Sabbath recruited local jazz teacher Laurence Cottle to be their bassist during one of their brief late 80s line ups.
