We're getting close to a tipping point IMO, maybe it's coming at Conference.  I hope so.  We must all continue to speak truth to cuntitude.  Loudly.  Until it comes.

You've seen this from McClusky, I suppose:

Dear Uncle Len lends his mighty weight but every shoulder to the wheel.  It will be turning soon.

See, I disagree. I don't think they would. TBH I don't think even a Blair government would have done it.

They absolutely would. They would say "Look, I've been very clear on this, tough choices blah blah blah, no magic money tree blah blah blah". Their fear of looking socialist is bigger than their fear of looking heartless.

The fact we're even debating whether a Labour government would take £20 off the most vulnerable is so desperate.

You've clearly not read that Fit for the Future document: https://labourlist.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Fit-for-the-future.pdf

See under 'Brand'.

They might not take it off all the most vulnerable, but I reckon they'd have a team of staffers looking for tenuous pretexts to take it off anyone who voted Labour while Corbyn was leader.

That was ages ago, surely they've all died of want and disease by now, it's not as it they don't deserve it.

That's not real, surely?!

Sadly, yes.

Bloody hell... I found the full report, BTW, on the ITV News website:

https://www.itv.com/news/2016-01-25/revealed-secret-labour-report-published-in-full

That particular slide isn't in it, though, which is odd - the only place I can find it is on Skwawkbox and similar websites. Though the rest of the report is a bit damning in itself. I don't like the emphasis on 'scroungers'. I agree that Labour needs to be the party for everyone - but not exclusively focusing on the middle classes, at the expense of those who are less well-off.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Speak to the whole country

Of which the "undeserving poor" aren't the whole country.

Usual contradictory crap. Speak to the slither of electorate who change their minds, more like

Here's another page that's not in Peston's 'full' report:

Forgive me, but I just don't think shaping Labour policy around what the biggest cunt in a focus group thinks is a good idea.

Great to be back to those halcyon days of 2015 before you know who spoiled everything. The days when Labour were party of landlords & the John Lewis couple who shopped in Waitrose. Shame our beautiful Shadow Chancellor never made it.

Yes. And I'll also say this again. I'm a lifelong Labour voter since 1983 (apart from a couple of anti-Tory tactical votes), a former party member and someone who has done academic research into the party, and I absolutely think they would. It is currently led by utter cunts, some of whom are more corrupt than the Tories.

And before you answer Vyv darling, just try to think this time why someone like me - and other people like me, some of whom have actually represented Labour on councils etc - will never vote Labour again under the current regime and possibly ever. It might just not be because we're secret SWP sleepers or whatever you'd like to believe.

Given the people who seem to be selected for those focus groups, they're probably the nicest  - or only printable - comments.

Democracy for Cunts - Lesson One

  • Buy the media
  • Tell people the real cunts are beneath them (not us, the fucks running things, the fucks with all the power and money and choice)
  • Listen to the people and obey them
  • Punch down forever on a human face
  • Sorted.

If you have some spare money, think about giving it to DoubleDown News, Novara, Owen, something like that.  We need to stop this shit.

It's entirely correct that there's a tiny group of elites who control mass populations and direct the news and chaotic events: it's called 'rich people'. But it's not a conspiracy because conspiracies have to be hidden and this is done in the open.

Jockice, my love, I think your issue is that you have been spoilt by old Jezza's years of leadership, and now that he and his fellow travellers are gone and there is once again some semblance of normality in the party, you and your ilk are upset and so are stamping your feet and saying you'll never vote for them again (even though you gladly voted Labour under Blair).

Does the idea of cultural hegemony come largely out of Gramsci or were other Marxists writing about it at the tine?
