Ben & Jerry's decided to stop selling ice cream in Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Ben & Jerry's said on Monday that the sale of its products in the West Bank and East Jerusalem was "inconsistent with our values".

Palestinian activists praised the move.

Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid called Ben & Jerry's move a "disgraceful capitulation" to anti-Semitism and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which calls for a complete boycott of Israel over its treatment of the Palestinians.

He said he would ask the 35 US states with anti-BDS laws to enforce them against the company.

BDS called Ben & Jerry's decision "a decisive step towards ending the company's complicity in Israel's occupation and violation of Palestinian rights".

Which was nice. 

Really very impressed with the B&J board for this, even Unilever, for backing them.  BDS works.  Keep it up my darlings.

According to some of the left wing Jewish pressure groups, BDS etc who I follow, they had to be dragged kicking and screaming to this. You can see from the pushback why, so shriekingly hysterical even over such a relatively small and specific act.

Hopefully more companies join. It would be better if several did en masse so they don't allow themselves to be isolated in the inevitable backlash.

It's decision Monday follows a tweetstorm on May 18 that had users pouncing on an announcement about new flavors by calling on the company to end the sale of its ice cream in Israeli settlements in the region.

After reading that article, if I lived in New York, I'd boycott the fuck out of Morton Williams and if I was Ben and Jerry's, I'd stop supplying them with products.  Nasty people.

Some American politicians are getting very angry over a corporation choosing not to sell its product in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma has called for the US state to "immediately block the sale of all #Benandjerrys in the state and in any state-operated facility to align with our law" (Oklahoma has an anti-boycott of Israel law). Ben and Jerry's aren't even boycotting Israel, just the occupied Palestinian territories.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis has asked Florida's State Board of Administration to add the companies to the Continued Examination Companies that Boycott Israel List. Florida is one of 35 US states with laws opposing the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement.

New York mayor Bill Be Blasio says he will boycott Ben and Jerry's.

A lot of capitalist politicians getting angry at a company for deciding not to sell its product in certain locations for ethical reasons. It's ridiculous how even a mild protest by a corporation gets these politicians this angry. Very sinister in the so-called "Land of the Free".
