He has quite thin lips. The puppet has big lips. It is not a standard feature of Spitting Image puppets to have big lips.

Southgate is white and caricatures of white people don't tend to give them big lips. Look at the way black and white people are drawn in Tintin and Asterix, for instance. Hope that helps.

i just think that when you're caricaturing a black man as a puppet for a comedy show, you should be sensitive enough to the history of racial caricature not to give them big lips when they don't have them. it's not hard.

this "oh you're just looking to be offended" might have worked back in the 00s when racism was in its grave and lucas and walliams could black-up to public approval, but not now.

It's not a great look is it. On a basic level I would have thought that making a puppet look fuck all like who they're supposed to be and not giving a black puppet massive comedy lips for no reason would have been written down somewhere as "don't".

I agree that the puppet does perpetuate the old racist stereotype but like it's been pointed out earlier Spitting Image have been doing this type of puppet for years. The issue should have dealt with by Spitting Image years ago.
