Thank fuck for morphine, hopefully i won't be there when I die.

jonholyfield

3 hours on the phone to NTL's support dept in India  made me lose the will to live. Not before I got very angry. They are just so crap.

Pinball

Dell are like that too. I sorted out my g/f's PC problem, and they were crap, although this Irish engineer called and was FANTASTIC. Then, after all the problems were resolved, I received a Bangalorian call asking for feedback about the service they provided. I would have answered his questions, but I couldn't understand him.

Quote from: "Pinball"I die every day at work.

Of cancer (probably)?  Or is that just a flippant remark?

I like the idea of passing some sort of test and moving onto the next stage of the "experiment"

Mister Cairo

Quote from: "Canny"The only good thing he ever did was oppose the Scottish Parliament. Otherwise his politics were crap, his personal life was crap and I am grateful that we won't ever have to put up with his garden gnome nastiness ever again.

I disagree with some of Cook`s actions-like allowing the sale of parts to Indonesia to use in Hawk fighters-but I don`t think he was nasty, and i don`t see how his politics were crap.

Which ones in particular were you cannily thinking of?

Canny

In particular, Mister Cairo, he was a member of the Labour Party. Uncannily enough.

Sovereign

Isn't it true that he was kicked out of the Cabinet because Dick Cheney phoned up Tony Blair and told him too? Rumour is Robin had the audacity to question Cheney's support of Isreali targetted assassinations, and a few days later Cheney told Blair to "kick that fucking pinko out of your cabinet" and lo and behold he was moved to leader of the house.

My dad told it me in the car, anyone else heard this story?

Sadness

I just can't help thinking that if Robin Cook HAD been murdered THE SUN would surely have run the headline - "Who Killed Cook Robin ?"

Or am I just missing my real vocation in life.....?

Yes, I am aware of that. I haven`t had my head in the sand for a year. You never said anything about disliking the Labour Party until now, what party do you prefer?

This sounds pretty bad really. I fear we could be hearing the worst in the next day or two :(

LadyDay

Mo Mowlam has died, that's really sad, she was a class act.

Oh lordy, it just gets worse doesn't it?  I liked her as a polititian who spoke her mind and didn't bullshit but wasn't as extreme as David Blunkett in doing so.

Two good people die aged 59 and 55 and Thatcher, must be what, almost 90 or something?  No justice

Borboski

Come on Mowlam was an embarassment, she was like Clare Short for being happier as a celebrity than a politiican - always on the telly telling Patrick Kielty how she single handedly averted nuclear war in Northern Ireland.

Still, shame to go so early.

Almost Yearly

Grieve not, for her successor in Northern Ireland is still alive and well and representing us in Europe.

That particular Bill Hicks routine will never die will it.

Pseudopath

Wasn't Mo Mowlam famously still a virgin, or am I thinking of someone else?

I think the people of Northern Ireland preferred her to previous NI secretaries as she was seen to be down with the people, unlike her predecessors (such as Sir Paddy Mayhew).  I'm not from Northern Ireland myself, but that's how it seemed to me.  From what I can remember BWW is from Northern Ireland and appears to have respect for her, judging by her post on the first page.  I wouldn't have thought she was alone with the assertion that she was perhaps the best Northern Ireland secretary.

I think the celebrity thing is a bit harsh, I must've missed all the occasions she was on Patrick Kielty's show.  Don't politicians have to try and stay in touch with the masses.  It's all very laudable not "selling out" and only appearing on Newsnight, but lets face it, hardly anyone watches it.

I'm not sure anyone's man enough for the job to be honest.

Thanks aaaaaaaaaargh! At 57, Widdecombe had better get her skates on!

I'm sure there are "specialist" publications featuring women like her, so I'm sure she'll get some hot fuck action soon

I'm sure some Star Wars fan has fantasies of shagging the Emperor.

No, she was a highly intelligent woman who could get a handle on a political brief faster than anyone. She had none of airs and graces of most MP's and was one of the least self serving politicians in the country.  There are far too few people like her in government.

Actually she helped do the sex advice in Zoo for a short time. That's not intended to be a joke.

The death of these two is a major blow for the left in the Labour party. Lets hope the fine careers in parliament for these two inspire more politicians to ac with integrity rather than searching for soundbites to further their careers. What a terrible shame. RIP.

I never thought I'd be this sad to hear of the death of a politician.  I was wrong.  RIP Mo.

smoker

according to her obit. she was nearly a victim of the boston strangler

Lady Beaner

Sorry, I just nabbed this off B3TA's front page...it made I smile.

Noooo!  Quite the opposite, apparently.  She liked a good time.  :-)
