Noooo!  Quite the opposite, apparently.  She liked a good time.  :-)
Yay! The dirty minx! (God rest her soul)

How is the Labour Party like a good porn film?

It doesn't have any bald or ginger cunts in it.

I like the way the thread title implies that Cook and Mowlam's deaths were somehow related in some sort of dodgy accident.

Frinky

It's a conspiracy on behalf of the shadow government to kill off all the ugly politicians.

The Mumbler

Quote from: "LadyDay"Mo Mowlam has died, that's really sad, she was a class act.

I hadn't heard the news all day, and even though I was well aware of her worsening condition, that is terrible, terrible news.  Hard to think of anything bad about Mo, which makes her a rarity in politics and in public life generally.

RIP Mo.

Anyway, RIP Mo. She seemed nice.

I'm sick to death of certain papers going on about how much of a loss Cook is and how great he was, when several months ago they were saying he was a coward and a supporter of terrorism for quitting the government.
why don't people just stick to their guns and say what they think, just because someones dead doesn't mean you're opinion should change.
People had a go at Blair for not going to his funeral but at the end of the day if he didn't like the bloke Why should he go?

Mister Cairo

She once told Ian Paisley to fuck off, which makes her a legend in my book

It's called 'respect'.

I'm not being funny but if you can't understand how 'falling' is different to 'dropping unexpectedly', Im fucked if I'm going to try and explain complex human emotions - and the inherent psychology therein - to you.

Maybe he didn't respect him, and don't be so patronising.
i understand why people think he should have gone but if he didn't like or respect Robin cook why should he go?
If he did go people would criticise him for being false and putting on a show for the papers.

He *was* his boss, remember.

Chers penis

So what? I've worked with and for people who i wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. Just because you work with someone doesn't mean you like or respect them and It doesn't mean you would go to their funeral.

Mister Cairo

Politics is diffrent though, as the actions of your cabinet keep you in power. In other jobs, the actions of one subordinate make a small diffrence to how much money you get, but Cook`s tenure could have made or broken New Lanbour.

possibly in blairs eyes, by going against the war and publically speaking out against him he might thinm he was trying to get him out of power.

Wasn't Mo a bit of a looker in her day though? I'm sure I saw a picture of her as a long haired twenty-something looking pretty at some point.

It is sad, she always struck me as a good egg.

Didn't Glenda Jackson look quite tasty before she turned into Zelda from the terrahawks?

Well, he should have respected him (even if he didn't like him), and if you stop being such an immature prick then I'll stop being so patronising.

EDIT: I'll start a new thread when I can be arsed.

Fuck you weekender, i fail to see what's so immature about what i'm saying. You're right he should have gone to the funeral, you're right he should have respected him, but the point is he clearly didn't!!!!! and if that's the case then he shouldn't have gone to his funeral. all i'm saying is what  the truth is so could you point out where i'm being immature.

Blumf

Isn't the more important issue to see how Blair responds to Mo's funeral, never mind Cook's? I notice the government's press office, er, I mean the BBC news site has a big picture of Tony and Mo happy together at the top of the main page. I suspect the focus groups didn't respond positively to Blair's snub of Cook's funeral.

Quote from: "Pseudopath"I'm sure some Star Wars fan has fantasies of shagging the Emperor.
Bastard! Just spat out me brew because of that!! :-)

Not a lot that I can add to the thread. I didn't agree with Cook over some of his politics, but then I guess it's not all black and white when you're in a powerful position. However, his conduct during the Iraq war - as someone else here succinctly put it, sacrificing his career for integrity - gained my respect.

Mowlam was a ledge, she'll be sorely missed.

May both rest in peace.

Perhaps power corrupts looks too. There's a few politicians who have been ravaged by time. I reckon it's the stress, the long hours and the kinky nookie.

Our Mo definitely had the 'Mow Mow'

I don't know if it's deliberate or not, but Peter Mandelson does a superb job of damning her with faint praise in today's Guardian, here.  A mildly interesting read though, some stuff I didn't know.

Mister Cairo

Given that all Mandelson ever acheived was to turn the Labour Party into the New Labour we all know and love, as well as being forced to resign twice after scandels, he should shut the fuck up and carry on milking money from businesspeople.

Paul Routledge usually fucks me off as he`s a Brown-fellating propegandist whose only role in live is to praise the Chancellor (see the New Statesman, where he writes the most biased claptrap ever) but his biograpy on Mandelson is worth a read.
