Lads anyone else spend their rent at the bookies backing England to win this?

This is some classy, old school paedophilia from the lads. None of this modern dark web techniques. This is befriending a family on holiday and really embedding yourself into the fabric of their summers-type stuff. You can't knock it.

Woakesy is like Malcolm McDowell here in A Clockwork Orange, an upstanding man with sexual appetites for age-appropriate people being bombarded with Dutch-strength fare from all sides. You have to fear for the lad.

Woakes is the one morally upstanding officer in the Dirlewanger Brigade.

I spent a nice couple of hours on Sunday drinking beer and watching Rainham CC 2nd XI lose to Cowdrey CC 2nd XI

Better than this anyway

Quote from: cricinfoIt's a sombre scene on the balcony of the England dressing room now - apart from a thong-clad Bairstow, who seems to be dancing lewdly in the direction of a visiting school party...

Was looking alright until the runout.

Still, with Ali as vice captain and Bairstow being Root's best mate at least there's some accountability around here for poor performance.

Well anyway, there's a 3 match series away to West Indies in March. That might be vaguely competitive.

Nah we'll get fucked in that too, hopefully with some shattered skulls thrown in for good measure.

Did West Indies not beat these useless cunts 3-0 last time they toured?

England may win the next test as India are streaky but this will be the first summer in 20 years where England have not won a home series. Woeful.

Actually West Indies only won 2-1 but nonetheless they walloped England in the first 2 tests and then England won the final one.

Not sure if it's the same people (it's definitely the same people), but all the idiots who reckoned this game wouldn't last three days will be 'correcting' everyone who says Joe Ropt is a shit captain, telling them that he is 'the most successful captain England has ever had'.

Inspector Norse

If he loses 9 more games, which he could quite feasibly have done by this time next year, he will be officially the WORST CAPTAIN OF ANY TEAM EVER.

In recent years West Indies have shown a bit more nouse in England and genuinely competed. If they had been given a summer series rather than a spring one which is always tougher for batting they might have even notched a couple of victories.

What depresses me is how after 1 nice innings suddenly the new player is the template for England going forward. That huge stand Sibley had with Stokes, even in that he was clinging on for dear life in the most friendly conditions imaginable, strike rate still not pushing 50. Stokes passed him in under half the time. It's all very well if you're going to stay in, but very few batsmen are going to escape with successful test careers if they need 175 balls to compile a 50. It's ridiculous.

Then there's the other side of the coin, Crawley who appears to have only been taught stroke play and nothing else.

YJB is now averaging 21.40 in his last 34 test innings btw.

With a top score of 57.

6 ducks in that period.

Unbelievable dross that we tolerate. He would be lucky to even stay in as a wicketkeeper but then there's Buttler doing fuck all either.

They'll be playing it in post-Ashes shellshock.

probably staffed with half a team as a bunch clear off to IPL, are dropped, or are just clinically fed up, another dicking looms.

The Test team is being sacrificed on the scheduling altar but still expected to deliver regular wins home and away. For all their inconsistency and annoying tendency to chuck away their wickets (like today's run-out) they're having to pull out results from a plan that could have been designed to fuck them. I'm surprised Root doesn't tell them to stick the captaincy up their arses; he's going to be saddled with thrashings which make him look a worse captain than is really the case.

India have the advantage of a massive player base in a country where it's far and away the most popular game.

We ought to be celebrating this defeat though, we've papered over the cracks with home victories for too long now and avoided dealing with obvious problems with the batting. Here's hoping for another thrashing at Old Trafford, a good dicking in the Ashes followed by a solid blackwash in the Caribbean. It will be better in the long run.

QuoteIndia have the advantage of a massive player base in a country where it's far and away the most popular game.

India have used the same approximate number of players we have in the last 3 years, so I suggest we look for another excuse than 'India is a bigger country'.

England have by any comparison a well funded large county system that produces 40+ new first class and one day players every single season on top of the existing ones, with injuries and retirements and career changes filtering out some of those.

Our current pool as a whole total in excess of 50 players who have all played recent international cricket of some format or another for England, even more if you include Lions cricket.

The management of that should definitely be heavily criticised but we are not wanting on numbers.

Our one day and t20 sides would be suffering if you were correct but our B teams in those formats could beat most sides First XI.

It's a question of administerial competency and no-one should be allowed to get off the hook.
