good times

I don't know why but this name change popped into my head the other day and I decided to Google their original statement to better understand, as it all seemed a bit daft on the face of it.

What I came across instead was the article they wrote in the Guardian at the time which is loaded with humblebrags and new album plugs, which convinced me that it was partly just an ailing band trying to make themselves relevant again.

I also don't buy the part of the original statement that suggests that the British Sea Power name is suddenly more open to misinterpretation now than it was in 2002.

Was a C&B thread every made about the Girl Band name change by the way? Now called Gilla Band

Not totally sure how I feel about that one either, but I get it a bit more. Gilla Band also did it at a time when they're a bit more relevant/on the ascent than Sea Power are now, so maybe a bit more of a bold move on their part.

I can see how in the current climate you might not want to have the word "British" in your band name

The Mollusk

God, imagine if they'd been called British Man Power
