Is this already being discussed on a more obliquely named thread? Few days old this news, can't believe it would have been missed here but I couldn't find a thread.

I saw something about him possibly trying to claim immunity because he was noncing on behalf of the crown.

It's a bit 'dog bites man'.

The Royal Family Watch thread is in Picture Box for some reason - I think it was moved there to make it less conspicuous to people who might come here from Northcliffe House in search of sedition.

It's been raised in the Royal Family Watch thread, but Barry keeps that tucked away in Picture Box these days so that Quentin Letts and royal nonces and royal nonce-enablers can't find it.

I'd love to see him try that. How many new repuplicans do we reckon he could single-handedly create?

If Guiffre wins damages won't we foot the bill ("and look who's paying")?

And can't the Queen just get child rape made legal (for her offspring)?

He could try claiming some kind of ancient fuedal jus primae noctis right - it might work... or it might not. Who knows.

Here we go:

QuoteThe Prince might also argue that he has some form of sovereign or crown immunity because he was a working member of the Royal Family and part of the British state apparatus at the time of the alleged incidents.

In America? I think George Washington would have something to say about that, especially if Andy had been using his peanut butter as child rape lube.

yanks love the Queen

Shoulders?-Stomach!

I read that they tried to serve him papers while he was on his horse.  Both comical and maddening.  I hope he ends up having to go to trial.

The guy's having to live in a castle. Leave him alone.

I hope he goes to a supermax jail. Hasn't he done loads of things in the past that strongly suggest he's a dangerous psychopath

Fair point.  I guess this fiasco is crippling his work as the UK's swashbuckling trade is envoy.

There's a story about him ramming some palace gates down in his Range Rover because he couldn't be arsed to go the long way around.  Most pundits say he's known to be "rather self entitled" and to "not suffer fools" which I think translates as he's a right fucking wanker.

there's that whole thing where he sold arms to despots

QuoteIn March 2011, Kaye Stearman of the Campaign Against the Arms Trade told Channel 4 News CAAT sees Prince Andrew as part of a bigger problem, "He is the front man for UKTI. Our concerns are not just Prince Andrew, it's the whole UKTI set up. They see arms as just another commodity but it has completely disproportionate resources. At the London office of UKTI the arms sector has more staff than all the others put together. We are concerned that Prince Andrew is used to sell arms, and where you sell arms it is likely to be to despotic regimes. He is the cheerleader in chief for the arms industry, shaking hands and paving the way for the salesmen."

In January 2014, Prince Andrew took part in a delegation to Bahrain, a close ally of the United Kingdom. Spokesman for CAAT, Andrew Smith said, "We are calling on Prince Andrew and the UK government to stop selling arms to Bahrain. By endorsing the Bahraini dictatorship Prince Andrew is giving his implicit support to their oppressive practices. When our government sells arms it is giving moral and practical support to an illegitimate and authoritarian regime and directly supporting their systematic crackdown on opposition groups. (...) We shouldn't allow our international image to be used as a PR tool for the violent and oppressive dictatorship in Bahrain.

Andrew Smith has also said, "The prince has consistently used his position to promote arms sales and boost some of the most unpleasant governments in the world, his arms sales haven't just given military support to corrupt and repressive regimes. They've lent those regimes political and international legitimacy."

arguably worse than the worst crimes that an individual could ever do, but I suppose it's nice and legal stuff for psychopaths who want to 'go straight' and who merely dabble in sex abuse on their off-time

Lawyer for some of Epstein's other victims, Lisa Bloom, seems to think he will.  She said eventually judges get fed up with people that indulge in this kind of (literal in his case) horse play and find an alternative way of serving them. Short interview here is worth a listen

If I were the videogame programmers for the Hitman series, I'd be setting up to drop a pretty spicy free DLC level right about now...

Interesting,  fingers crossed then.  So once he's served, does this mean he has to show up in court?

He won't have to go to trial because it's a civil rather than criminal case. However, it does lead to the excellent situation where he has to choose to travel to the US and answer questions about being a nonce in court, or not go and be found a default nonce in absentia.

idunnosomename

Hope he pulls through. Good luck, big man.

Well you'd be too late, because Hitman: Blood Money (2006!!!) has a level where you execute an opera singer and an international diplomat whom are involved in an interglobal kiddy porn/trafficking ring that's said to extend all the way to the top.

I recall! Great game.

Still want some Buckingham Palace DLC, though. Just to run around dressed as a clown, blasting the royals with an 18th-century musket.
