It is a fantastically bleak film, with great music, staggering effects by Tom Savini and some good scenery-chewing performances. My only real gripe is how pantomime villain the soldiers are. Steel and Bickles may as well have twirled their moustaches throughout. Rhodes is a different story because at least he comes from some place of righteous indignation until it all turns to shit but the other two are a bit too on the nose.
