'Overload' by the Sugababes is an example of a good song released in the year 2000.

"Massive Fart"

I was just listening to a Del the Funky Homosapien song about ass hygiene from the year 2000 when you posted that. I didn't like it, and I'm going to have to ask you to leave the thread now.

JaDanketies

Rollin' - Limp Bizkit.

I remember when that came on Top of the Pops and my stepbrother complained it was 'that mosher music' - I believe the first time I heard the word 'mosher' - and left, and I slammed out the air guitar and had my world turned upside-down

JaDanketies

Flowers - Sweet Female Attitude, which was the last pop song I really loved before Limp Bizkit made me wear baggy clothes and a wallet chain

There were some other songs around in them early mosher days too that some people like - Wheatus, Teenage Dirtbag, OPM - Heaven is a Half Pipe. Not sure if I stand by any of them as much as Flowers by SFA

I was getting bored of the old Post Rock/Kranky stuff and getting to the pop:

Peaches' first album

Princess Superstar – Last Of The Great 20th Century Composers

And this sort thing

Downpour - A Beginner's Guide To Mass Hysteria

The Mollusk

"9PM (Til I Come)" by ATB.

Fuck, wait, that was 1999. Well it's still a banger.

'Overload' by the Sugababes is an example of a good song released in the year 2000.

When I was a kid my Mum said if my parents' evening went well she'd buy me whatever single I liked the most in the charts, so I said 'Overload'. She asked if there was another, in case she couldn't find it, and I genuinely couldn't think of anything, so I just said that I thought the Offspring had a new single. I'd liked 'Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)' when it came out (I was about 9 or so), but I don't think I'd even heard their new song, it really was a 'just blurt out the first thing you can think of' moment.

Anyway, parents' evening went well, and sure enough a few days later I received a copy of 'Original Prankster' by the Offspring. Mum told me that they had had 'Overload', but she had decided it was a rip-off because one of the b-sides was an instrumental of 'Overload'. Thanks, Mum.[nb]OK, I'm partly to blame.[/nb]

Just to be clear, I'm not nominating 'Original Prankster' as a good song from the year 2000, it's fucking dire. 'Overload' is mint. 'Black Coffee' is also from 2000.

Try Again - Aaliyah.

Yes.

Destiny's Child - Say My Name
Avalanches - Since I Left You
Mystikal - Shake Ya Ass
Sisqo - The Thong Song
Madonna - Music

So much great R&B back then.

Sebastian Cobb

B15 Project - Girls Like Us
Ed Case - Something In Your Eyes (K Warren Remix)
Shola Ama - Imagine (Asylum Remix)
Kristine Blond - Love Shy (Club Asylum Remix)

DrGreggles

I think All Saints' Pure Shores was that year.

Also, as we can raid the pop charts:
Doves - The Cedar Room
Moloko - The Time Is Now
Sonique - It Feels So Good
Morcheeba   - Rome Wasn't Built In A Day
Mansun - I Can Only Disappoint U
Underworld - Cowgirl
Blur - Music Is My Radar

And obviously the very silly Thong Song by Sisqo.

You got me thinking about Gonzales now, and that led onto Har Mar Superstar. By association, it made me think of Har Mar lookalike, porn star, Ron Jeremy who is currently under investigation for serious sexual misconduct. I thought to myself, that must be annoying to look like him for the roly-poly, former minor indie-pop star but have now just read Har Mar Superstar has also had serious allegations made towards him this year. See what you've done!
