Let's cheer ourselves up with a happy thread.  Who do you think is a diamond geezer/geezette, enriching the world with their knowledge and skills?  I propose David Attenborough, George Orwell and Greta Thunberg.  Controversial choice - Nicola Sturgeon.  Lots of Labour diehards in here, fair play, but I think she really cares.

Rory Stewart, obviously.

Misread this as Rod Stewart.

Which one is the better Stewart?

God, that would be like trying to decide your favourite part of being hung, drawn or quartered.

George Orwell would be writing for the New Statesman or the Spectator if he was around today.  Or Spiked.

For all his snitching he did at least go out with the International Brigades with the express intention of doming some Falangist fash cunts.

Wasn't he a democratic socialist? Are Statesman and Spectator into that?

His real surname was Blair though, which is ominous!

Well played mate, I expected the first joky suggestion to be trump or boris.

Sebastian Cobb

One's a Tory and the other was described by Ronnie Wood as 'tighter than two coats of paint', so it's probably much of a muchness.

So he said, but this was between/during the wars.

Is there still a good few old school lefties down in England? I'd imagine some became disillusioned and jacked it in or got expelled.

Was be fibbing!?

To be fair one of my heroes is Aneurin Bevan. I learnt recently he was cremated in a crematorium literally down the road. The fact his corpse was burned in my town is such an honour.

Soz Bf, didn't want to derail your thread! And yes wor Rory seemed like a good (joke) one given how beloved he is to certain types.

Literally a man of Celtic fire then (better than those bovine Anglo-Saxons).
