I haven't seen The Matrix

Once it came up in conversation that I haven't seen The Matrix.  The other guy was astounded, outraged even.  I'm aware that it's a mindbending sci fi classic.  Just every time it's on the telly I'm not in the mood.  Also unseen: The Godfather, Sound of Music and Gone with the wind.

Fambo Number Mive

I haven't seen Ghostbusters, The Breakfast Club (seen clips from it, I like how they dance), Gone With The Wind, Jaws, Metropolis or Black Panther.

I have seen Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow.

Ghostbusters and Jaws are worth the effort, trust me on that.

Along with a million other things. Why pick that random grab bag of stuff? Why do people announce things they haven't seen almost as a badge of honour?

Just watch them, come back and tell us your opinion as opposed to just saying see that, never saw that me.

No worries, was just wondering if people would say they hadn't seen the original Star Wars, Superman or Indiana Jones films.  Which would surprise me.

Fambo Number Mive

I haven't seen any of the Indiana Jones films, only saw one Superman film (can't remember which one). Not a fan of Superman.

Gulftastic

Top Gun. It's been a deliberate choice. I am old enough to have seen it in the cinema but me and a mate made a pact to never see it. Nearly 40 years on, we're still holding on.

Blumf

Any of the Mission Impossible films. Just didn't at first, but it's become a thing with me and now I refuse. Plenty of other films to watch instead, like Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow, which I have seen.

I'd never seen it until two weeks ago and wish I hadn't bothered. The flying scenes are vaguely fun but everything else is dull, Tom Cruise has never been less convincing on the romance side of things, and there's a sod load of very boring scenes filled with technical jargon that became increasingly annoying.

Butchers Blind

Not seen any Harry Potter film.
No Twilight film.
No Fast and Furious film.

Unsure why anyone who's not a teenage girl would watch the Twilight series. 1 is bad enough. And the Harry Potter films take forever to get going. At least with F&F you don't need to watch the previous films and can start halfway though any while drunk, while I don't know how people can remember salient Harry Potter plot points from one day to the next let alone over a year.

Never seen any Rocky or Rambo or The Lion King, and not seen all of ET.

Inspector Norse

I've never seen Cops and Robbers, a 1973 crime comedy directed by Aram Avakian starring Cliff Gorman and Joseph Bologna.

Custard

I ain't seen none of the Lord Of The Rings, despite owning all the films for about 10 years

Gonna try to keep it going forever

Norton Canes

Not seen Grease. Seen Grease II loads of times though, it's ace.

Custard

Grease 2 is good, isn't it? Never understood the slagging that gets

Nor have I, but the book (by Donald Westlake) is excellent.

I've got a soft spot for The Breakfast Club, rewatched it last year and thought that it still held up.

Sound of Music and Gone with the wind.

I've not seen those either.  For some years I've been intending to watch them when they pop up in the schedule (yes I realise there's other ways to watch but I'm really not arsed enough and willing to wait).  Last time one popped up was Jan 2000 and I didn't watch because I was feeling crappy (loss of sense of smell... Wuhan variant?) and not in the mood.  I tried watching a Twilight film a few years ago and it was so bad I bailed after about 20 minutes.

Good luck with watching The Matrix.  If you like that type of film it's definitely worth a watch, but you might have the problem of the film having being ruined by all the quotes and references you've already no doubt encountered, just as I detested Monty Python's Holy Grail when I finally saw it because it'd been ruined by so many quoting unfully wankers.

So many 'classic' films I've not seen but gradually remedying when any of them pops up.  I only saw Casablanca for the first time last year, for example.

I always wanted to see Xanadu because years ago I'd assumed the plot must be influenced by the Coleridge poem, but last year I looked it up on imdb and read the synopsis and it's just the name of a nightclub and it sounds shite, and now I realise why the film is treated with such derision.

Same for me and Titanic. Everyone likes this but it's patently guff, I'm never going to watch this shit.

Still haven't.

Stay permanently well away from Indiana Jones if you aren't a fan of Superman

Must say I have hardly seen any films myself, including the so-called essentials listed here.  You've got to be in the mood haven't you, for films, and who the fuck is.

JesusAndYourBush

I've still not seen Kramer vs Kramer.  The reason I mention it is that in 1979 me and some friends were taken to see a double bill of The Island at the Top of the World & Earthquake and while we were there a friend went out to go to the toilet and came back about 20 minutes later and told us "I just went into the other theatre and I've been watching a porno!", and when we asked what it was called he said Kramer vs Kramer.  So I keep intending to watch it so I can try and work out which scene he saw.  Presumably there's a quite pedestrian bedroom scene with a flash of boob or something?

You may ask.  The answer is 'no'.
