I was watching Neighbours, I remember they waited for the credits to roll before they went over to the newsroom to say a second plane had gone in. First one: not arsed, second one, well okay it's newsworthy but let's see how this shit at Lassiter's plays out first.

Elderly Sumo Prophecy

If 9/11 happened today (or tomorrow, because it's the 10th today) there'd be people livestreaming from inside the towers as they came down, possibly even from inside the planes. Shit, they'd probably be livestreaming as they threw themselves off the towers too.

What was Lou Carpenter up to? Must have been serious bother with Harold

Beagle 2

Ironically he was masterminding a terrorist attack on the United States of America resulting in a catastrophic loss of human life.

You laugh but the attacks had serious ramifications for Paul Robinson and the Udigawa deal.

And for Henry who could no longer take samples of "Liquid Beauty" on a plane, but had to clean the concourse and dispose of them before he was permitted to board.

In that very episode, Toby threw paper aeroplanes at the Alessi twins, causing them both to collapse.

halcyon days. couldn't get away with it now

No. They wouldn't let you fly a plane into a massive office block now, killing thousands in the process, in case it "upset the families".

Susan Kennedy hung her breasts at half mast the next day. Karl pointed out the obvious connotations of collapsing the twins but Susan wasn't having any of it. It precipitated their seventh divorce.

On the morning of the attacks my boss wanted me to give him a lift to pick up his car from the dealership in Norhtampton. It was a Porsche 911. The type was a 993 (flight 93 crashed into the ground). The dealers were called Arlingtons (name of where Pentagon is). None of this clicked with us until days later when they started to call them the 911 attacks.

And his name?

John World Trade Centre.

Video Game Fan 2000

Everyone makes jokes about Joe Biden being old and senile, but the thing not many people know is that he's actually so old he remembers when 9/11 happened. He watched it with his own eyes. That's mad.

Why isn't the plane crying tiny little planes? Don't they know anything about cartooning?

BTW, that Bee-Gees video is brilliant, in hysterics by the end.

This is a collection of songs, song parodies, and comedy bits that I downloaded from peer to peer progs in the aftermath of 9/11.  I posted it a few years ago but the links still good so have at it.  The "Stacy 203" track was the first track to appear, only 2 days after.
Disclaimer: Some tracks might be offensive to some, if you're offended by history then don't download.
(No idea who did the photoshop. Thanks to whoever you are. It seemed appropriate to use for this.)

Do you ever imagine what it would have been like to have been in one of the towers a floor or two beneath where the planes hit? You could just belt it down the stairs and away from fiery death. I bet it would have been just like Krypton Factor. What a rush.

I've no idea if that Subway ad is real (EDIT: Ah, just seen the edit), but this is...

Regarding the latter, I was amazed that they managed to get all the political players from then including Bush and Cheney for a sit down to reminisce about their crimes and how they just had to "kick ass".

What surprised me about that one is that even in a moment of national crisis they still had a guy running around photographing everything the President was doing.

Really good documentary, although it's depressing that Bush clearly has absolutely no ability for self-reflection whatsoever.

Can't believe they went with the take where the mattresses fell over.

Apparently some bloke convinced his mate it was a genuine deal and printed the coupon, which was then accepted by a branch in San Francisco.

The frowning just after the clip by the presenter is fantastic, only to be topped a few seconds later by his co-host.
