It's also sinister when they talk about "increased productivity" and such, because they know the only way we'll get an edge on other trading blocs is to reduce employment rights here, take away holidays etc. But leavers didn't. I suppose most of them ie pensioners are jobless.

From the Guardian

Quote...At a fringe meeting earlier Nadine Dorries said that Angela Rayner's "scum" description of Labour normalised abuse of politicians. (See 5.21pm.) But in the final conference session of the day, Jacob Rees-Mogg, the leader of the Commons, took an entirely different approach, laughing it off.

He told large round of applause when he said:

I'm sorry to tell you this, but one of the joys of political life is winding up the left.

Dehenna Davison, the Bishop Auckland MP who was interviewing him, agreed, and said that was why she was wearing a Tory Scum badge. Rees-Mogg went on:

Why should we mind about that? The Duke of Wellington said that British soldiers were the scum of the earth ...

Here we are all together, we're great people because we have been scum in the socialists eyes, but we make a success of it. And, as scum always does, we rise to the top. So we can't complain too much...

bgmnts

Genuinely hope all these cunts die very slow, very horrible, very humiliating deaths.

Literally the least these cunts deserve.

fucking rees-mogg shitting out so many children he can't even be bothered to name them properly

The thing that really got me when I heard Raab having a go at the ECHR this morning was that the Convention was brought in after the Second World War to ensure that no more atrocities were committed in Europe.  It literally reflects the freedom that was fought for in the Second World War (which they love to use for their 'patriotic' rhetoric), but they intend to tear it down.

I don't suppose its any different in that respect from the way they treat the NHS, which was also part of the postwar settlement.

robhug

The devils representative on earth's speech about to start, its getting a big build up on sky news.

Fambo Number Mive

I wonder if Rees-Mogg would be where he was today if he didn't get the HIGNFY "hah hah, loveable eccentric and good sport" treatment that Johnson got.

Fucking Orwellian:

Quote...Courts will get new powers to stop disruptive activists attending protests, the home secretary will say.

Priti Patel will unveil the Criminal Disruption Prevention Orders aimed at stopping some activists attending demos, at the Conservative conference.

A Tory party source said it will target people with a "history of disruption", or those likely to commit crime.

Climate activists blocking roads have previously been warned they could face fines and up to six months in prison.

In her conference speech in Manchester, Ms Patel will announce plans to increase the maximum sentence for disruption of a motorway.

She will also announce a new criminal offence for interfering with critical national infrastructures such as roads, railways and newspaper printing presses...

Also, newspaper printing presses are not "critical national infrastructure". If the printing presses were stopped for a week it would make little difference to people's lives. It's just in there as a favour to the press barons.

Maybe that'll have the opposite effect and as people see they'll be arrested for just for protesting anyway, they'll opt to go the full hog and start blowing things up.

One of them is named after an 11th century tax-dodger.

Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto Mogg what is Mogg's.

Rees-Mogg pretty much encapsulated what being a conservative is about: it's about hurting others. It's not about doing what's best. It's about making people you don't like suffer, and laughing at them.

Joke's on them, anyway, they can't see a trans person doing things without going into a rage.

robhug

its just funny to laugh at the poor

Kankurette

I wonder how many of them have spat at a homeless person on their way to the conference. Wouldn't put it past them.

robhug

its their own fault, they could stop being laughed at by simply stopping being poor, its not rocket science. Much maligned Jacob cant get his head around why these people don't simply stop this lifestyle choice immediately.

He definitely wouldn't - he's my local MP (fuck no, I didn't vote for him) and he himself has always acknowledged that his relatively swift rise in the party is solely down to HIGNFY.

He claims he won't ever seek the role of PM.  I believe him because he arguably wields far more power behind the scenes where he is now than the PM, AND in theory it's a position he can hold for as long as the tories are leading.

The latest attempt to force people back to the office comes from Johnson, this time claiming that people will be talked about in the office if they are working from home:

Quote...He said he wanted to see more people back in the office. He said:
For young people in particular, it is really essential ... if you are going to learn on the job, you can't just do it on Zoom.

You have got to be able to come in, you have got to know what everyone else is talking about - otherwise you are going to be gossiped about and you are going to lose out...

Kankurette

Has Johnson ever worked in an office? People will talk shit about you even if you're going into work every day.

Why are the Tories looking to interfere so much in personal decisions between private firms and their employees? If they deem it efficient shouldn't they be let be. Let market forces work as they are.

Paul Calf

Because investment funds are over-exposed to the commercial property sector and it's on its arse.

WhoMe

Was listening to Johnson on Today this morning waffling on when Nick Robinson asked him to 'stop talking'. Boris couldn't get over it for the rest of the interview. Literally occupying the highest office in the land and he's still a petty little wank. Similar with Marr on the weekend, it seems like pundits are pretty tired of the filibuster tactics during interviews to avoid answering for anything. Not that it matters.

" Prime Minister, stop being a cunt."

It's quite amusing, at it must be frustrating to interview the de Piffle, but it rather plays into the hands of the ban the lefty BBC brigade (a number of whom are in office).

Fact is that the fast paced just-answer-the-question style of BBC interview suits de Piffle and co and their 3 word slogans, rather than a proper longform interview and a proper discussion of ideas.

This is the key. They are selling a high productivity, high wage economy to people that aren't part of it; pensioners. And when it doesn't materialise and healthcare, social care and pensions go south and their base starts feeling the pinch, they can wash their hands of it and blame the feckless young and their aversion to hard work, and businesses and their reliance on low paid immigrants.
