I made my initial post when I thought it was mere aggravated assault. Any murder like this should rightly be viewed as an attack on democracy and I can't imagine that the repercussions of this will be desirable. Also the guy was just doing his job. Arguably the most important part of his job. So it's all a bit shit really

nothing like those places here. we have to use external image hosting

Not good is it; seemed like he was only injured in the initial reports.  Grim.  RIP.

pigamus

Still, Adele has a new single out, so it's not the worst news of the day

How shit it is going to get depends on who the murderer is. If it's another right-wing nutter like Jo Cox's murderer then it'll have the least repercussions. Some radicialised muslim nutter will probably get the worst response.

Sometimes there's no difference between this place and 4chan or kiwifarms.

Show some respect. A man has died FFS

Lemming

Man on radio talking about how he was a deeply passionate activist who fought passionately and tirelessly for what he believed in (which was cutting people's sole source of income and leaving them fucked and doomed)

The master butcher of Leigh-on-Sea

Phew, we've just missed out on a pulled episode from the TOTP repeats - they played it over the closing credits

Never posted there, wouldn't know. Prick

Dr Trouser

I love by- elections so what with this and that Labour one getting found guilty I am over the moon.

If it was an anti-vax conspiracy theorist then it might mean a few of the Tories think maybe they shouldn't be emboldening that crowd.

Er.

buttgammon

Fuck knows what draconian measures are going to be brought through because of this, especially if the perpetrator doesn't turn out to be a mentally ill white man.

It's sad and perhaps a bit inappropriate for this to be my first response to hearing about this, but the opportunism of the Tories knows no bounds.

It seems that it was a question of when this would happen not if. Fucking awful.

MPs surgeries behind bulletproof glass is the future. Brexit ramped up the division and hateful language towards politicians, now we are living with the consequences.

Horribly grim. The ROFLesque comments on here are puerile.

Icehaven

BBC news is reporting comments from various MPs and from Carrie Johnson, but zip from Boris himself. Is there some protocol reason for this or is he just being his usual foot shooting self?

peteprodge

This thread brought out the most abysmal spite-fuelled shite I've ever read in this forum. Have a day off from being a bell end, please.

Spot on mate. Cannot hit a nail on the head harder than that.

Being edgy and trying to pass it off as irony. Scouring the web for private or identifying information about ideological opponents. Acting like a bunch of borderline incels. The comparison is pretty apt.

Wouldn't be quite so galling if you weren't jerking yourselves off about how kind and compassionate you are compared to other forums, simply by virtue of being socialists.

Plenty of people here taking the opportunity to score points.

Would be quite a significant shift in western Islamic terrorism, thats always tended to go for the general public rather than specific politicians.

apparently he liked elephants and stuff

Devastated now. I too like elephants. Why is it always the good ones or the ones who like elephants?

Alberon

Just looked on Amess twitter. Pinned twitter at the top is advertising the surgery today.

Yeah, he was a tory, but it is sad that two days ago he posts a silly little cat picture not knowing what was coming.

Norton Canes

QuoteHe was also known for his championing of Southend, including a long-running campaign to win city status for the town

Could he do anything right?

Not quite the same, really, is it

jamiefairlie

Disaster all round. Man loses his life, 5 kids lose their father, husband, son, brother, etc.

Politically this could well be Franz Ferdinand (insert hilarious music joke here) moment for UK democracy, expect 'Brexit plus' type hatred to come spewing out now. Very grim times ahead.
