That's what I love about VWs - out of nowhere something brilliant can appear. I've never heard this before, but I did used to have a CD of Mongolian split-toning recorded in the fields, and there was some amazing singing there. It seemed to disappear somewhere now sadly, otherwise I'd upload some.

I've got a previous album by Yat-Kha which is fucking great - it's a live album where he introduces what the songs are about (horses, camels etc).  A friend of mine brought it back from a gig, so I'm dying to see them live, but I'm scared that they'll only do these cover songs which are interesting but really not that great.

I liked that Huun-Huur-Tu track too, kinda reminds me of Welsh male-voice choirs in a really perverse way.

Do you think this is where they get the guys that do the movie trailer voice-overs from?

Heh, I can do a fairly decent throaty grumble like that! I can't really sing in it, but given time!

John DiMaggio and Billy West do a good thoat warbly grumble in Futurama for the martian hurricane thing; they do it on the commentary as well, which is where I tried to copy the noise from just to see if I could do it. I can now annoy people with this triva and accompanying throaty drone noise. Hurray for me.

I must stop wasting my life.
