No, probably not, it's liable to irritate people and that is not something I would like to do.

EDIT: Did pirates actually talk like that?

smoker

arr i believe this ere thread be going to walk the plank

@ssmaster

Neville Chamberlain

I talk a bit like that anyway.

(Well, I've got a slight Zummerzet accent - does that count?)

From the West Country are ye?

I like the show Yoho Ahoy (yes I know it's for pre-school children)

Frinky

Dark Sky

Since when did pirates say "yarrrr"?  Isn't that Germans?

I thought pirates said "arrhhh!"

Not that I'm an expert, admittedly...

Every day is talk-like-a-pirate day as far as I'm concerned.

Borboski

I can't believe no-one's said me hearties, me hearties.

Cerys

Good thing there isn't a National Talk Like Graham Norton Day.  Or National Talk Like Janet Street-Porter Day.  Or ... oh, sod it: ARRRRRRRR!

Almost Yearly

Aharrrr, d'ya git meh?

That reverse correlation between global temperature and number of pirates someone posted somewhere was dead funny.

I'd say it's "Ha-harrr!" myself, preferably followed by a 'Jimlad'. The 'Y' was put at the front by The Simpsons primarily, and it's very wrong.

@ssmaster

It's a regional thing surely, 'yarrrr' are what the pirates say in my neighbourhood

YARRR!!!

El Unicornio, mang

Pirates have really taken off in the past few years haven't they? Probably down to Pirates of the Caribbean (2 and 3 recently finished filming, btw)

There's two guys who go to our local night club who always dress as pirates. One of them looks like a slightly overweight, short Johnny Depp

Well I've got a fucking beard...

I didn't mean that I generally talk like a pirate, I just meant that I like to talk like a pirate. And shall do so entirely upon my own whim.

This pirate walks into a bar with a big ships wheel down his pants. The bartender says, "excuse me, sir, but do you know you have a ship's wheel down the front of your pants?"

And the Pirate says, "Aaaarrrrrrgh, yes and its driving me nuts!"

Ahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lady Beaner
