Ian Desk was eventually filmed as 'Ian News' in series 2 of Fist of Fun, be nice to get a clip in the OTH Extras section I've been trying to put together in spite of a computer that hates me.

The Ian News was also a regular feature in the first series of the Lee & Herring Radio 1 shows.

Edit: See here for details and downloads.

theantileague

are these 'previously unseen clips'  the ones that are going to be included on the dvd? or different ones? :\

Neil

They're on the DVD.  I wouldn't even go to that site as they give away a great gag on the page, although understandably some of you might not be able to wait.  Still, just over a week now!

Lumiere

Thanks a lot for that Neil. I appreciate it.

Quote from: "in the Mininews topic, James"I don't think the Sept 11th thing has been posted.

Go to the Episode Selection on the first disk.  Wait for the menu thing to play through twice.  Press 'Top Menu'.  You'll be taken back to the main menu where Peter O'Hanrahahanrahan will be reporting from the world trade center.  Alright, I guess.

Daniel

Disc 1, "Select Episode". Keep pressing Right until you reach the episode 5 menu, then press Left to go back to the episode 4 menu. Press Right again, and when you see "7" and Doon says "7's a little younger", press 7. You'll see the episode 5 menu again, and soon a picture of Collaterlie Sisters will come up and you'll hear Collaterlie interviewing David Schneider (forgotten the name of his character).

Coogan interview with Mark Radcliffe: Ah, now this is good, but why on earth is it hidden?  Go into the Extended Scenes menu, and leave the controller alone while the Pong animation plays.  I think you may have to press up and down, but eventually the red cursor will vanish from the bottom of the screen, and appear at the top.  Press the entre button on your controller, and you will be transported to another menu, where you can hear this interview which took place on the 17th January 1994 (the night before the transmission of the first episode of The Day Today).  This is very enjoyable and lasts about 30 minutes.

Press right to "back", and then press "up"

what What WHAT!!!  I know that post was 3 weeks ago, but I check the forums regularly and never saw any mention of this.  I had a look, and even used the search function and found nothing.  Was it a late april fool, or is the download link to the Brasseye pilot just very well hidden?

On Disc 1 theres a short interview by chris morris with peter o'hanrahan on sept 11. dunno how to get it thought, it was an accident

I think you can still download it from this thread:
Brass Eye Pilot aka Torque TV
It's a rough version of the Brass Eye Animals epidode with lots of great unseen material.

Thanks!  I searched everywhere the other day but couldn't find it.  Now downloaded.

Play any episode, and as soon as it starts, hit the "Title" button.  Let the titles play for 25 seconds until the "Play All" option gets squashed by the cubes.  When "Select Episode" appears, it should start playing.  You now have Morris talking to Peter O'Hanrahahanrahan during the 9/11 atack.

Peter is supposedly in the Towers.....but not quite really there.

It lasts about 3 1/2 minutes.

I liked it.

LoveMutha

tho this may well be bollocks, i have been told if you simply leave the main menu of the main disc running for long enough, a secret morris broadcast featuring sept11th and Peter O'Hanra Aharanahn

Darrell

Are you two the same person (it doesn't seem so), or is that frightening synchronicity?

Or do you just know each other or something?

Is It 1981?

Hello, this is my first post on here (as noted by the '1' on the left there, nice isn't it?). I got the TDT DVD posted yesterday (i miss Blackstar, stupid sendit...) and tried to get to the hidden features as listed on the front page of this fine site. BUT... they don't all work!

Disc 1: 9/ 11 talk
Play any episode to the end, and wait to return to the main menu. 24 seconds into the endless spinning etc, and you will hear Christopher say "This is The Day Today 24..."

Disc 2: Morris/ Partridge Diana talk
Play any extra to the end, and wait to return to the main menu. When you do, you'll notice there are no newsbulbs rotating. About 30ish seconds later, Christopher starts off with "It's been a long time, Alan..."

I can't seem to get to any of the other hidden extras such as the cast reunion etc - following the instructions always results in the Morris/ Partridge Diana talk.

Also, what's this 'paper band' around the DVD case you keep talking about? My copy doesn't have it, and neither do the copies in the shops.

Keep faffing around with them, follow the instructions on this site. Most of them are no trouble. Otherwise...

That kept happening to me too. Eventually I gave up and stuck it in my computer. If you've got WinDVD, just whack the second disc in and choose "Selection 8" from the "Disk Menu" button. The cast reunion should come on after a few seconds. Pressing "8" on your remote on the title page might also work, I don't know. You're not missing much anyway. Similarly, "7" will get the Diana chat, "6" will get the other Morris-Partridge chat. Most of the other eggs can be smoked out this way. Try pressing random numbers on the other menu screens (for example, "8" on the Mininews menu gets Bushwhacked2). Happy hunting.

Quote from: "Is It 1981?"Also, what's this 'paper band' around the DVD case you keep talking about? My copy doesn't have it, and neither do the copies in the shops.

Shrink-wrapped retail copies of the DVD had a paper presentation band wrapped around the box. Some shops are selling the DVD without the shrink wrap, and thus without the paper band (I didn't get it either). It just has collages of presenters and scenes from the Day Today on it, much like on the DVD sleeve itself. Again, you're not losing out on anything epochal, just a nice bonus for collectors.

Hope that helps.

Ambient Sheep

There are now scans of the paper band (not by me) available in this thread.

Is It 1981?

I use my Mac as a DVD player so that could be why I can't get any of the other extras.

Plus using the menu selection only lets me skip to the 'proper' chapters such as the Mini news, the pilot etc...

Never mind, then. Thanks for your help by the way. :o)

So do I. I've got all of the extras from disk 2 in some way or another. One good way is just to go through various chapters and titles. I've not got the september 11 one or the Doon one though, but I'm not too bothered about that.

You need to do the additional - go into a sub-menu, come back out of it, wait a very, very long time.

Slowcoach that I am, I only just got my copy of TDT-DVD. The newsdancer on the mininews menu is inspired.

Just to correct how to acces the coogan/Radcliffe Radio interview:
Go to extended scenes, move to BACK, press down, then select.
Also can you reccomend a good link to enable me to download your Jam: torrent files?

Neil

If you mean Blue Jam then the links are on the front page, second update down.  If you're looking for torrents of the TV show then we can't help, we have nothing to do with stuff that's commerically available.  (And if people know of torrents for such things then please don't post them here!)

So this is what you meant by saying "Firstly,"?

[EDIT - no, links to online gambling casinos aren't what was meant by 'firstly']
