Sorry, not Technology I know but didn't know where else to put this. Hello to anyone who doesn't know me, I'm an old dear who lurks mainly in General Bullshit. I've got about 500 or 600 of these cards, I reckon they're about 15 years old, they are in played not perfect condition. They make a teetering pile about 10 inches high. I said I'd try to eBay them for my son as he needs the cash and I've got a solid eBay account but neither of us has much idea how to sell them. I've had a quick look round and they seem to be for sale grouped by colour but that baffles me, where are the colours? Some cards may be rare and worth money on their own but how do I know which? Are there any websites where I could find out more? Is it worth me putting any effort into this or should I just sell them as a job lot? I'd appreciate any advice or if this question shouldn't be here, apologies in advance, tell me and I'll delete it. KBO. Janie x

Black symbol = common
Silver symbol = uncommon
Gold silver = rare
Red = mythic-rare

The symbol represents the edition and the rarity and can be located..

Example - next to were it says 'Enchantment - Aura' you'll see the silver symbol.  That's basically what you're looking for. Some cards are worth more depending on the print or edition.

This one has a gold symbol, thus it's a rare...

Also here's a handy guide to the symbols/editions...

These links will help you value your individual cards.

TOP TIP: I'd just search the uncommons and rares and mega-rares as commons aren't worth shit....

When I had MtG cards in the late 90s they looked completely different and didn't have this, so depending on how old the cards you have are it might not be applicable. There are price guides though, so you should be able to look up each card that you have.

If you have an alpha black lotus it's worthless but I like them so send it to me ;-)

Thanks for replies. I have sorted all the cards and have 0 reds and 15 gold, none of which seem to be worth much. I haven't bothered looking up any of the 60-odd silvers, I'll sell them as a job lot. My son was dimly aware that he'd cherry picked a few decent ones some years ago when he needed cash but thought there was still some value left, I think he'll be disappointed. What shall I do with the 500 or so Commons; if I bung them on Freecycle/freegle will they go? There's 1.3 kilos of the feckers.
