Women do get a different treatment than men. It is probably not the right time to make this point, but it isn't a bad thing to acknowledge, even if it is ill-timed in a ham-fisted way.

But he's got to last another 140 days to overtake Gordon Brown.

Quote from: TrenterPercenter on January 14, 2022, 09:59:08 AMActually I will expand.  Things do not become untrue just because they come through the twitter accounts of people you don't like, Phillips whilst annoying and a self-publicist also isn't the worst person in the world and does actually have some socialist principles in her - this is obvious.  A lot of this is overkill with her.

On her point she is right I don't think May would have engaged in this, May was someone who told us all her naughtiest childhood act was running through fields of wheat and the thing about it was it was completely believable, she has type 1 diabetes and so I imagine doesn't hit the booze hard herself - and would have been so paranoid of being destroyed over it wouldn't have let it happen or at least been involved in it.  The reply tweet has a lot of validity unless you are now saying sexism doesn't exist in the establishment?

It might have happened under May because she was incompetent and nobody cared what she said, but she wouldn't have actively encouraged and condoned it like Johnson. She was much more from the the Criminal Justice and Public Order school of Tories.

She wasn't diagnosed diabetic until 2012

Agree. But given that there are so many other personality and management style differences between May and Johnson, it is hard to ascertain how much of this hypothetical situation is down to sexism and how much due to other factors.

I don't think Corbyn would have got away with it on similar hypothetical level to May. Brown probably would struggle as well although could see Blair perfectly getting away with it better than Bojo.

Given Sunak lived next door, was he unaware of any of these parties? Telling none of the media have asked this.

So what she wasn't leader until 2016?

I thought you meant the fields of wheat was believable because she grew up diabetic

But you are mixing up left-wingers and right-wingers something the tweeters are doing - they are saying May in comparison to Johnson, in relation to her sex would mean she would never have thought she would get away with it.  I think by the very fact that we've only ever had 2 female PMs is evidence to this.

Apparently Number 10 has apologised to Buckingham Palace for partying during the time when Prince Philip was reported (wrongly of course) to have died.

They're not even trying to pretend they're not parties now. As several papers have pointed out, the next audience with the queen is going to be a bit awkward.

jobotic

Not as awkward as the next Audience With Victoria Wood

They could take a couple of bottles along to relax everyone's nerves, make a night of it.

while Johnson is enjoying an audience with her? That would be brilliant.

Lizz Truss and Nadine Dories are flying the Boris flag cos they know no other cunt would give them a government job.

Alberon

Dories is genuinely deranged, but Truss is just trying to show loyalty for when she runs for the top job herself. No one will be happier than her when Johnson is finally kicked out.

"She was like this when I got here"

Boris desperately trying to hang on in the face of almost universal disdain. HRH suddenly falling ill during their meeting, DOA, cause of death: massive stroke brought on by stress. Boris caught attempting to flee the scene. JRM says something career-ending about it being what she would have wanted. Boris becomes a pariah, forced to go into hiding, drinks himself to death within two years. Meanwhile Corbyn somehow wins a snap election and abolishes the monarchy. When people all say the same thing, the thing happens ❤️

Zetetic

It's worth bearing in mind that none of this would have happened if Jo Swinson was Prime Minster.
