Jim Davidson is a man who is so profoundly ignorant and fucking stupid that I can well believe that he genuinely believes that Lenny Henry 'asked white people to stop helping Africa'.  He's a Sun editorial made flesh.

Don't get me wrong, Henry and Lammy talking about the issue of the 'white saviour' narrative tells me that they have a shallow interpretation of the problems with charity (that being that ALL charity is effectively there to make the giver feel good about themselves rather than being a genuine fix to social ills).  Of course it's a 'white saviour' narrative.  It's a fucking 'saviour narrative' full stop; Comic Relief is this writ large, all back-slapping slebs looking misty-eyed, before heading home and paying expensive accountants to find ways to avoid tax.  Why do they think Tories boast about foodbanks being a fantastic representation of British generosity, rather than a blight?  But Davidson isn't offering a socialist criticism of the issues with charity; he's just being a racist fucker.

None of this detracts from the fact that Davidson is a nasty little cunt.

Bowen never broke out of Bullseye, though, which is absolutely fair enough. LWT were never going to touch him and he seemed happy enough with his lot.
