Possibly. Truth be told, I am so thankful I had a relatively virtuous parent and grew up just at the cusp of the age of ubiquitous internet.

As a person who has experienced social rejection on an industrial scale, I would have been the easiest of pickings for these fucking weirdos and good god knows what I would have done. I obviously can't generalise and the racial aspect of this crime makes me think there is a bit more to this than just general suppressed rage at being rejected by society, but who knows it manifests itself in different ways maybe.

Still, you do shiver a bit. It must be impossible to deal with leading a traumatic early life or a life filled with primarily negative experiences and not be absolutely fucked by the internet constantly feeding those negative emotions. Even rational adults struggle children and teenagers just cannot cope.

Mass shootings that are stopped by armed civilians are as commo as those stopped by police intervention. Both less than those that are stopped by unarmed citizens, but those stopped by armed citizens result in a fraction of the number of deaths.
Guns are used in only at most ~12% of violent crimes, and are used by civilians in defense in far _FAR_ more numbers than guns that are used in homicide - approaching numbers of guns used in crime overall.

Also, possibly as a red herring: numbers of people killed wrongfully with "assault-style" rifles and those killed in mass shootings, number less than those killed by blunt objects.
 Numbers of children killed in mass shootings in school are less than those killed in sports accidents at school, or who drown at home.

Let me rephrase.  Booze is legal, socially acceptable and commonplace.  In America the same can be said of gun ownership.  If we think badly of the gunshop then we should also blame off licences for bashed heads at the weekend.
