Lt. Organphalia

I remember the 'Genesis of Ron' thread fondly.

It was one that built up beautifully with contributions from multiple posters.

ImitiationLeather came of age in that thread.

Kankurette

'Why did you get into snooker, Kankurette?' Because of the CaB snooker threads. Case in point:

Ballgag looks like the kind of person who loves meticulously applying cream to a gaping anus. Whether sexually or for ointment. And thinks of himself as 'the best at it'.
Who came up with 'Ali Carter the Unstoppable Shit Machine'?

Maurice Yeatman

All-time classic tag was in a Comedy Chat thread about a mystery comedian and alleged offender known in the media as 'Mr X'. I think most posters didn't know who he was, and the rest were for legal reasons tiptoeing around giving any clue to his identity, and suddenly in the tags appeared
Spoiler alert
'Stephen X Amos'
[close]

Also enjoyed the tag about Afrika Bambaataa's alleged crimes (still no charges) that said 'Send him back to Bambaataa'.

For the record, I laugh at things that aren't horribly depressing too.

Initially skipped Pijlstaart's posts as they are quite dense and I thought they were like ... a former poster who posted drug fuelled stream of consciousness. Big mistake. Huge.

Remember a spate of posts wherein Pijlstaart was a satyr clip-clopping around the family home and hiding behind a sofa at one point after being chastised. The image still makes me laugh today.

Also Pijlstaart / Pijlself as pronouns.

I spent at least 5 minutes looking for that same post. It also contained something about pantomime singing and shotgun blasts.

Sebastian Cobb

Alright, not that long ago but I think about it a lot.
Quote from: non capisco on July 13, 2022, 11:17:35 PMMy favourite memory of someone taking something too seriously was the professional Sting look/soundalike I saw coming 2nd place in a karaoke competition in a pub in Hounslow. We saw him having a meltdown in the car park because his admittedly very faithful rendition of 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic' had lost prize postition to a morbidly obsese regular in a bucket hat doing 'Hangin' Tough' by New Kids On The Block, but just the "Oooooh-oh-oh-WOOOOH-oh!' bit over and over again non stop all the way through while he did a lumbering bear-like stomp on the spot. I've seldom seen anyone as angry as "Sting" was at this outcome, thumping his fist against the bonnet of his Ford Escort and making noises like Gollum with heartburn.

I remember the first prize was a complete series DVD of 'Walking With Dinosaurs'.

Quote from: Ferris on January 14, 2024, 11:21:07 PMSomeone (@Dex Sawash?) wrote a comment on the Shinzo Abe assassination thread blaming Shinzo John Wilkes Booth and it popped into my head yesterday out of nowhere and almost incapacitated me such was my hearty guffaw.

Had to know, looked and only found you Halloween costuming as Shinzo Booth in Oct of 22. I did post Abe Leakin' in the  Abe shot thread which could have started your sick wheels turning

I think I did an OK CaB post one time if anyone can help dig that out for me.

Explosion on the Tube 7/7/2005

Sad to unexpectedly see Sick as a Pike appear up the top there.

Hahaha, hadn't seen that gem before. non capisco is a regular and bountiful wellspring of funnies, no doubt about it.

Des Wigwam

@non capisco - are you responsible for the anecdote about the "mars bar" pushed through the letter box by the mysterious stranger and your dad shouting "don't eat it!"?

Quote from: H-O-W-L on January 16, 2024, 02:57:20 AMThe 7/7 thread is pretty shocking really.

Am I right in remembering that one poster took pictures on the tube and basically gave them away to a news agency before he had time to properly think about it?

Yes but if they had stopped to think about it what would a reasonable outcome actually be?

I ended up with enough money to donate a little to charity and buy my first SLR camera.

I don't regret it whereas I might feel guilty if I'd somehow made loads of money from it.

Do you still have those photos? The links are sadly down. If it's not upsetting to look at/find them, of course.
