Probably should do Germany a favour here as while the standard Senf is as I described there are a kaleidoscope of specialist offerings that I'm not sure I've seen from England or France.

Colman's on a thick ham sandwich is exquisite.

My adopted home city once boasted a Colman's shop where you could buy lots of different mustards, tea towels and mustard gas.  It was a great day out.

Yeah, gonna have to express some deeply uncharacteristic patriotism for this one; English all the way for me. Dijon and the fancy crunchy ones are alright but they're just a bit too genteel, lacking that sweet masochistic burn (which is also very English, I suppose). Also banging dolloped into in mashed potato before mashing.

I wonder if there's any sort of market/culture for daredevil mustard extremists, in the same way there is with showboating "extreme hot sauce bro" types. You never see jars of mustard with names like SATAN'S SINUS DESTROYER.

Yeah, that does kind of scream of an untapped market. Maybe play up the "English" aspect for overseas sales so it's called things like THE ABSOLUTE FUCKING ROTTER or MY NOSE IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL, OLD BEAN.

It's good as an ingredient rather than something to make mustard with I reckon. A teaspoonful in the sauce for macaroni cheese works a treat.

English is the best one. Other good ones are sweet Romanian mustard from the polski sklep on a toasted ham and cheese sandwich and that German one that comes in a little beer glass.

Wholegrain goes good in sandwiches and great in mash, ergo it wins.

I've got powder in the cupboard, but do mix some up occasionally for sandwiches if I've got nowt else, but it's mostly for cooking with.

Derivatives of senf are common along the nations that traded as part of the Hanseatic league, but also, probably more interestingly, the Balkans, I can only assume due to the Austrian Empire.

Can't eat mustard due to a childhood trauma.
About 8 years old and walked into my grandad's kitchen and saw a bowl of yellow stuff with a desert spoon in it on the table,he was at the sink and I shouted over "custard"?
He obviously didn't hear me properly and and shouted back "yeah"! I proceeded to scoop up a large spoonful and stuff it into my mouth...the rest is a blur,but I was told that it came flying back up along everything else I'd eaten that day.
I have another one about why I don't eat smoked fish and a broken leg being involved.
