As informative as it is to see raw Glinner tweets without having to follow him on twitter, is it wise to just post screenshots of his inane lunacy in real time into the thread with no warning?

I'm reminded of a thread I saw on twitter from a trans person who was pleading with the people they follow - friends, allies, other trans people - NOT to retweet or quote tweet anti-trans bile to dunk on it because then it forces this shit into their face when they've obviously made a conscious decision NOT to follow these bigots because they don't want to see this stuff.

Posting screenshots of his latest bollocks is just doing his work for him, spreading this shit further than it has any right to to be spread. If you think it's absolutely vital, maybe stick it behind a spoiler tag.

Yeah, well, if you want to keep abreast of the issues then someone has to read his Twitter feed. Or you can wait till the next thread when I've scraped together anything noteworthy that happened in the last thread and read it there. Or I'll update you right now: we're 20 pages in to the Nth thread and he's doing what he does best, which is libelling celebrities he envies and misgendering trans people (broken only by a brief Twitter suspension which barely lasted a day before he caved and deleted the offending tweets). A thread on a forum isn't as invasive as social media gubbins - you click it to read it, it doesn't come and find you.  I get the point you're making Cuellar - to make a wild comparison, we wouldn't go posting child porn on here if we were discussing it - but Linehan's statements are getting so detached from reality that they really do need to be included, otherwise every time a poster said something along the line of 'he's just claimed that Christopher Walken has had surgery to become a white cabbage in order to perve on women from the grocery aisle' we'd all have to make sure it wasn't someone taking the piss, and given the stuff he comes out with that's a hell of a lot of work.

Yeah, precisely. Cuellar's example appears to be unsolicited, an event beyond the individuals control, content thrust in their field of vision against their will. Whereas when you visit a Linehan thread you already know Linehan is a mentally ill transphobic bigot, and that the thread documents that. It is like opening a chest of drawers you know contains a scary ghost jump scare but doing it anyway.

its very true. keep in mind the big role that "dunking" and "snark" and "clap backs" played in raising the profile of some misogynists online when they otherwise would have melted back into the muck that spawned them. without communities and certain blogs broadcasting their every fart many would never have got an audience of more than a dozen divorced dads and high schoolers
