It's free on consoles now and fucking hell it's giddy-inducing levels of fun.

Just led here giggling out of pure tension like a div.

Does this turn into toxic hatred very quickly or is it always fun?

Utter Shit

I've not noticed any toxicity, tbh it's so manic and silly that I don't know how you even could be toxic. It's great fun, but I find it has a very short lifespan, I can only do half an hour or so before I get bored, it's fun to play every few weeks but not something I'd do regularly.

bgmnts

Sorry I meant like does it turn yourself toxic and get really addicted to it and scream and ragequit and all that shit like some multiplayer games do.

Stigdu

Nah, it's good fun but I don't think it's particularly addictive as the games themselves aren't too long, but 5 of them in a row can take a little while. My 10yo really likes it (my 7yo too, but she has trouble moving the camera around). I like that it's very family friendly while still being challenging as hell.

Not to my knowledge, but I'm not really that way inclined anyway. FUT is the only game I've ever played that genuinely made me angry, and that was just because the momentum aspect made it unplayable. I would never get angry about losing a game because I'm playing badly or because the other player is better, but I can't cope with losing because the game itself has decided to massively skew the odds in one player's favour because that's proved the best way to squeeze micro-transactions out of people. Even winning becomes a joyless affair when you know the opposition player is getting fucked by the engine.

I had a brief go on it ages ago and enjoyed it. It reminded me a little of Mario Party. I can well imagine it would get old if you play it to much, but that's fine. Sometimes, a quick bit of silly fun is just the ticket.

Do you need a PS+ account to play it?

BritishHobo

I got really quite addicted to it back in the first season, playing for ages to get to the top level. I think the season structure broke that spell quickly though, as a few games into season 2 I thought "well I'm not going to bother doing that every time". I've ended up generally playing for a few days at the start and end of every season, have found it a good game to dip into for a short session without feeling the addictive need to keep going.

I know they've changed a lot about how the rewards/levelling-up systems work though with this soft reboot, so I'm unsure how it works now. I may log back on and find it suckers my brain right back in.

Martin Van Buren Stan

One of the best games ever. Played it for maybe 100 hours and never won a full tournament.

RetroRobot

Love the game but hate what they've done to it post F2P. Full on FOMO micro transaction shit. Cheers lads.

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

That's disappointing. The simple pick-up-and-play quality was what I found so fun when I tried it. I don't want to fart about with leveling up and microtransactioning.

Stigdu

That's likely happened since Epic bought up the small company that made the game.

C_Larence

Won 12 squad games in a row with my friends last night. In the end our streak was ruined by the three rhinos round. I hate those cunts.

Yeah but don't you wanna spend a tenner to dress your bean as Master Chief? Checkmate socialists.

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

Hell no!

Master Chef, on the other hand...
