Come on, let's get with it.

Imagine the distain of a future Cabber searching for what DK did in 2023 only to find it's all in the '2022' thread? That would be terrible.

Tiggles

Finally someone took the plunge!

I guess the next stuff will be from Australia?

I'm curious to see if he ever properly works out what he wants to say about podcasts. He started kicking them about in the pandemic - tying himself in knots about them during Trifle, and he talked about them during his Outside tour as well. There's definitely something bugging him about them, and it's not just the shouty angry men podcasts he's on about, either.

cakeinmilk

He was in the audience of a Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown a few years back so can't be that averse.

Though thinking about it, it was maybe a decade ago, so may've changed his mind since, I guess.

SteveDave

He would make a fortune from having his own podcast on Patreon though.

Tiggles

The list of things that Kitson could make/ could have made a financial killing from grows longer.

He's currently Co-DJ-ing on Melbourne's RRR until about 10am UK time https://www.rrr.org.au/

Tiggles

I missed the first hour, thank you!

That was all very giddy and giggly. Incredibly worthwhile radio.

Looks like Kitson will be doing a WIP at Edinburgh called "First Thing" at Summerhall. Tickets apparently go on sale tomorrow at noon. No idea on the dates!

Thanks for the heads up, Kitson tickets snapped up with relative ease

DrGreggles

Grabbed a ticket - still not decided if I'm going up though.
Love Summerhall as a venue.

AzureSky

Another thanks from me. This will be my second Fringe visit, the last one was to see Where Once Was Wonder in 2012.

Tiggles

It's my first one and I'm pretty excited. There's stuff I definitely want to see so I'm booking that, but need to make sure I leave loads of room for the serendipitous as well. Need self-control (and a spreadsheet).

AzureSky

He has now emailed on it (@ 3:20am):

Coooooeeeeeee,

So - Sorry this is arriving at a weird time but i just found out my Edinburgh show is on sale now. I know! Now! Right NOW!

i'm going to be doing something in The Paines Plough Roundabout again. If you don't know it, its a modular in the round theatre which the Paines Plough people put up round the corner in Summerhall and its a pretty wonderful little space in which i've done two previous shows and watched a lot of excellent stuff.

I dont know what the show is going to be yet, literally, no idea. All i know at the moment is that it will be a work in progress and I want it to be something specifically made for being in the round so that i can then tour it a bit to other lovely in the round theatres because i love being in the round.

Oh also it'll be at 10.30am. aka First Thing.

Yum yum yum.

You can get tickets HERE

And i imagine i'll email you about it again if and when i know what it is or might be.

Okay thats it. Except to briefly say thank you, one final time, to everyone who came to (or worked on) the shows in Australia. I know a lot of you were buggered around with the rearranged dates and that when you did eventually get to see the show there was no actual show to speak of. So i appreciate your patience and your ongoing support and i'll do my best to bring something finished next time.

That'll do pig.

GOODBYE FOREVER

Daniel

Did anyone get a rip of the RRR show he co hosted last month? Looks like the archived show is still active so I'll have a go if nobody managed to do it already.

Tiggles

I wondered when someone would tell him! Interesting that he says he hasn't a clue what it will be. Reports from Australia were good, although it was clear that he was still playing with stories and mucking about. I wonder if he'll end up doing a load of WIP once he's back?

Looks like he sent it from Australia - there was a tagline about doing his laundry before leaving (a practice I applaud). Very wise man, spending the next 24 hours in the liminal space of transglobal travel rather than in the deluge of royal nonsense pouring over the UK right now.

merri

I was at one of his Melbourne shows last month.  It was very relaxed and unstructured, but I think people expected that when the tickets were just $20.

merri

Oh and I've a copy of the RRR show here if anyone wants it.

Bartholomew J Krishna

From Chortle
"Being performed at 10.30am for the duration of the festival, the show is described thus: 'A few days ago I saw a little boy slapping a wall. He wasn't angry. There was no aggression in it. It felt more like he was enjoying the existence of the wall. Finding comfort in its solidity. Giving it a slap. After a minute his mum called and he went to leave. Then he stopped, turned back, gave it one more slap and ran off. I reckon he gets it. Anyway, this show won't be about that incident. Or that boy. Or walls. But it will definitely be over by noon.'"

I've finally finished updated my site housing Kitson radio.

https://kitson.cakeinmilk.com

There's still some little bits and pieces I need to finish off, but it's somewhat comprehensive - all RSS feeds linked from there should be up to date (the old ones won't work any more).

Searching through past posts on here I've seen references to an episode of Ian Collins Unbranded from 03.11.2002

I've never heard this - on the off chance someone has it (and Kitson is on it) could you send me a copy?

Is there anything else I've missed at all?

Tiggles

Now this is a level of Danoraking I can only applaud.

Thank you so much!

SteveDave

When are we getting our records? I think the original email said March?

SteveDave

Har. Just saw the latest email, vinyl sent out on Wednesday.

Thanks Daniel! X

Looks like Kitson's on at Up The Creek on Sunday night in Greenwich - cracking bill as well. Feeling pangs of "missing living in London" all over again...

I've updated my site (kitson.cakeinmilk.com) and now Listening Club and the Graveyard 2007/8 runs are complete (along with edited versions). There's also a few odds and ends under Misc now (including the Loose Ends interview which is referenced in a well-travelled bootleg clip). Thanks to everyone who's contributed so far.

I think I have a near-complete list of what's missing. Anyone got any of the following?

Mar 27, 1996 - BBC Radio 1 - Evening Session
"Jo Whiley and Steve Lamacq have the new music first, and more on Family Affair, courtesy of 1995 Open Mic Finalist Daniel Kitson." BBC do not have the complete programme, only the tracks played during the session.

Aug 28, 2001 - BBC Radio 4 - Fringe Cuts
Clip exists of short set introduced by Ross Noble. Is the full show out there?

2003 - Unknown Date - Xfm - Jimmy Carr [Interview]
Xfm have confirmed they don't hold any archives.

2003 - Unknown Date - talkSPORT - Ian Collins [Interview]
Neither talkSPORT nor Ian Collins have a copy of this. "Flattered he did it with us and I remember him being superb."

2005 - Unknown Dates - Triple R - Graveyard Shift
April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, May 1, 2, 2006 - Triple R - Graveyard Shift

Triple R have confirmed that none of these shows were archived. A recording of at least one 2006 show is known to exist. Some dates might be a day or so out due to the time and timezone the show aired.

One more:

Sep 23, 2007 - ABC Melbourne - Conversation Hour
Jon Faine likely hosted. Guests/co-hosts were Daniel Kitson and Pam Creed. Podcast was available at something like http://mpegmedia.abc.net.au/local/melbourne/faine_mXXXXXXX.Mp3
"Stand up and high wire - the comedy festival meets the circus."
